I think Lamotta is overrated historically, but he's still light years ahead of Baldomir.

I disagree . I think LaMotta is rated right around were he should be.
You don't see all kinds of LaMotta groupies running around ...
People like Jaws however severely underrate him ...

he's not very good. He is Baldomir only smaller and in an era when most people had no concept of defense.

I think it'd be a competitive fight, but the way people talk in this thread ud think it was some massacre in the making. If everyone on earth thinks fingering themself in the ass is a good idea, and I don't, I don't mind people calling me crazy

Cause it would be a massacre ... LaMotta would massacre Baldomir even if he was having a bad day and Baldomir was having a good one ...

This is not some band wagon or some sort of old timers prespective , this is just the way it is no-matter how you slice or dice it ...

    I'm convinced.

When he was IrishJQ he was a great poster. one of those guys with a clear old time bias, but he clearly knew his shit and usually kept civil.

Now he gets butthurt everytime someone disagrees with him, its sad really...

I'd love to go bar hopping one night with Karl ..
I'd be sure to wear my sneakers and sweat pants just in case some shit goes down ...
Heck , I might even wear a full hand wraps ...

A bouncer would stop and ask why are my hands wrapped - then I would point to Karl and say "I'm here with him" , he would then understand the situation I was in ...

Seriously jaws - what the fuck are you talking about?

For starters - you talk complete bullshit like La Motta was smaller than baldomir? Where do you get that from? You've just made that up.

Baldomir is 5'7 and LaMotta was 5'8. And quite a bit beefier than baldomir.

LaMotta was a middleweight, baldomir a welterweight.

LaMotta was not the wild brawler he was reported to be by some sources.

Honestly - have you only seen raging bull? Have you actually seen a la motta fight? And if so, anything other than the valentine's day massacre? Any other fights? The Cerdan fight?

I am not a LaMotta fan, in fact I am a cerdan fan and feel he would have beaten lamotta with the use of both hands, but LaMotta could fight.

He was not great defensively, but certainly better than the robinson beatings would indicate.

Baldomir probably would have lasted the distance, but he would have been beaten up by the bigger, better, more skilled la motta.

I don't think la motta would have stood a chance against Monzon, Hagler, Hopkins etc, but they are 3 of the best middleweights ever.

We're talking about baldomir here, a welterweight for starters and someone who at world level - is an average fighter.

I don't have a problem with you jaws, but you severely overrate your own boxing knowledge. Your knowledge of the game is limited at best, and you talk shit as if you know it all.

Maybe you've never met Baldomir in person, but he is not 5'7. I'm 6' and he might have been a few inches shorter than me. Secondly, he's thick, and balloons up to 180 between fights, so i have no doubts that if they fought at 160 he'd be as big or bigger.

Jake Lamotta is just not very good. He was tough as shit, had a great chin, but he wasn't that fast, hit ALOT weaker than people would have you believe, and he really just didn't have the skill some are giving him credit for.

I've seen the robinson fight that there's tape for, a fight late in his career against Bob Murhy I think the guy's name was, and maybe one other.

For me, saying LaMotta has a great defense would be like someone saying Gene Fullmer was a great defensive fighter, its just untrue. He would get tagged over and over, just like Baldomir would get tagged over and over. I think it'd be a close fight either way, but of course I'm the only one with the balls and the decency to go against this ridiculous norm of those famous white guys from the black and white era being highly skilled.

I wouldn't go as far as to say highly skilled, he wasn't exactly a worldbeater was he, but he was a tough bastard, and certainly more skilled than some give him credit for (you and martin scorcese).

Are you sure you're 6 foot? Baldomir looked no taller than floyd, and floyd is 5'7/5'8.

Like I said, I would have picked Cerdan in the rematch with LaMotta, I am not a LaMotta fan, but he was good enough to beat Baldomir. And good enough to give Robison at least 1 tough fight.

Baldo is pretty tough himself, and LaMotta was not a monster puncher, so Baldomir would have probably lasted the distance, but he wouldn't have won.

Who would you pick out of Baldomir and Robinson?

    Robinson.

But if they fought 6 times, I can invision Robinson having a bad day and losing.

First thing you need to understand is that when LaMotta beat Robinson , Robinson wasn't having just a bad day ...

Why do you neglect the fights that were Split decisions that could have gone either way. Also even the UD's were very close fights ..

LaMotta was more past prime then Robinson was for almost all of these fights. The last fight that people like yourself like to base LaMotta's skill from , LaMotta was DRUNK in that fight and way past prime.
