My list: 1. Roy: He's still not retired yet, so he's still my favorite. 2. Dawson: Despite his tough fight with Glenn, I'm still a believer/fan of Bad Chad. 3. Kessler: Despite his loss to Joe, I'm still a fan of the Viking Warrior. Hopefully Pavlik doesnt duck him. 4. Pavlik: I'm still a huge Pavlik fan, despite his new string of easy fights. He's easy to root for, both as a fighter and as a person. 5. Kirkland: With his style, his career wont be long, but it'll be fun as hell to watch whilst it lasts. Honorable mentions: Williams, Cotto, Judah, and Angulo.
Fuck me, Dawson at number 2? What do you like about him X? Even though they aren't close to the fighters the made me such a fan... 1) Morales (Well, he is close in Spirit, but not ability). 2) Pacman (Close in ability, but not in Spirit :: ) 3) Pavlik - he's quite quickly become one of my favourites. I love watching him fight, and he seems like a likeable chap too. 4) Cotto - Dull personality, but a skilled, well rounded beast in the ring. I really like watching him, and he's just a formidable fighter. Better than Tito ever was. 5) Tough one. I used to be a huge Mosley fan, but he hasn't electrified me since he lost to Forrest. Those losses really damaged mosley as a fighter. I still like him a lot though. In fact, Cotto was the first time I ever picked against him. I like Roy too, but it's not exactly close to watching prime Roy. Ultimately though, my number 5 spot is going to have to go to little Izzy :mj:
Judah - brings the fight forward every time, willing to fight everyone, knocked down Mayweather and made him look SLOW, brings attitude into the ring, not scared to lose, beat the shit out of Spinks, a real fighter. Mayorga - fights to knock people the fuck out, enjoys it, fights anyone. De La Hoya - GREAT boxer, never gets "beaten up" even when he has lost, because he has great skills. Boxer puncher aggressive style. Roy - #1 All time but it's hard to root for him when in your heart you know he should have retired several years ago. Chagaev - my gf is from Uzbek, and this dude is a pretty bad-ass heavyweight banger, so I have to root for him every time out.
Tito has never beaten an elite fighter, Cotto has. Tito is one of the most overrated fighters in the history of the sport, along with Hamed. Unbelievable how he is still so overrated. Cotto is simply a better fighter than tito, tito has more power, that's it. Never in Cotto's career shall you see him beaten in 1 sided, humiliating fashion as tito was against Wright.
if cotto fought winky at 160, he too wouldve been shut down. what elite fighter has cotto beaten? an old ass mosley? zab judah? i'll take tito's wins over vargas and an old whitaker over those two.
At the moment...Mijares, Kessler, Haye, Margarito, Abraham Having been a RJ hater in the past, I wouldn't mind seeing him regain the old magic one more time against Calzaghe.....Plus, if he steps it up some more, Valero would fit here
Have to be honest, I don't really have any big faves at the moment. Most my fave guys seem to have retired, been found out or faded away. I'm hoping David Haye does something to revitalize that shit stink heavyweight scene, so he can be my honourery fave while there's still a prospect of that.
Knocking out a prime, unbeaten Vargas meant more than winning an 8-4 decision over a past primed Mosley. And Cotto has never faced anyone as good as Wright, so who's to say he would do better? Plus Tito wasnt exactly at his prime against Wright either. Tito had more power than Cotto, just as(if not quicker) handspeed, was rangier, stronger, just as accurate, and had better stamina. Prime for prime at 147.... Cotto does NOT last the distance with Tito.
Here's the 5 fighters that I will always tune in for. Not necessairily my favorites. 1. Pacquiao - Lots of drama surrounding his fights. 2. Pavlik - His "string" of easy fights stands at 1 so far. Not much of a string. 3. Cotto - I root against the guy, but his fights are exciting. 4. RJ - Not a fan, but these days, I want to see how he wins or loses. 5. Vazquez - The guy has been on a real string of exciting fights over the past 2 years.
In no order: Sahaprom Cotto Daniel Santos Pavlik Pac honorable mention - Eagle Kyowa, David Haye, Edwin Valero. Excluding Floyd, MAB and Stevie Johnston for retirement reasons i hate to be so cliche with Cotto/Pac/Pavlik - but those guys are all exciting, power punchers who are also good guys to root for regardless. can't go wrong with those guys
Wanna bet on that ?? Cotto will be humiliated at some point in his career. He is not a "plan b" type of fighter and once somebody has his number he will get shut out badly.
He doesn't have a plan B? What about the Mosley fight..after round 6 when Mosley started bouncing around trying to out box him..
Plan B in that fight was hang tight and try to minimize the damage. Mosely clearly had alot more success later in the fight when Cotto tired and couldn't compensate.
1 knockout over a complete bum doesn't make him exciting. The only other exciting thing that'll happen in his career is getting putting to sleep when he steps in the ring with a real heavyweight after shit talking him.
Yeah, Wlad has had 53 fights. In TWO of them there was no stoppage nor any knockdowns (Sultan, Bigfoot). Talk about a boring guy. Calzaghe, #1 in those idiotic p4p lists, throws more shots than almost anyone at his weight class or above. Haye, KOs in all but one fight. Hopkins, has a string of easy opponents lately, Taylor Wright, Tarver and Calzaghe. You really caught me:bears:
Cotto still won 2 or 3 of the last 5 rounds....and isn't that a plan B? If the other guy is still strong why not minimize how much damage you take and just try to win the round by landing the cleaner harder punches...
