I've had an all season argument (continuing through today) with a Raven's homer who strongly claims Joe Flacco is a better QB than Cam Newton.

My take is, Cam is already a better player than Flacco he's just missing a ring.

The guy said that even if Cam wins the Super Bowl Flacco would still be the better QB...

What says REED.

I checked the numbers and not only does newton have more passing yards and TD passes than Flacco (using data from his first five years) Flacco has 15 GW winning drives to Newton's 12. Flacco played in 6 more games than Newton.

That clutch stat is fairly close to even.

Newton also has 2800 more yards rushing and 36 more rushing TD's than Flacco.

 

the clutch comment is based on flaccos post season appearances the past 3 or 4 years

 

Really that's based off the year they won the super bowl when he threw 11 TD's. The other years he wasn't that great.

To me, still not enough to take him over Cam...considering everything else Cam does like rushing for first downs in crucial moments.

Mind you, I'm not a Cam Newton homer I just know I wouldn't take Flacco over him.

if I had one game to win I'm taking Aaron Rodgers or Tom Brady.

 

I'd take newton over Flacco. But the year prior to the Ravens super bowl flacco also played great in the playoffs

 

Flacco's last contract gutted the Ravens. He might not see that kind of talent around him for awhile either.
