I think Pacquiao gets him late in a war. Wouldn't be shocked if both taste the canvas. But Pacquiao tends to get stronger as the fight goes on and I think he'd eventually wear down Pryor and take him out.
I think the opposite. I think Pryor would wear Pac down. Both guys are gonna be pretty fucking worn down by the end either way. Don't rule out a fatality.
Pryor's leaky defense would mean he'd have no chance against the hand-speed and combination punching of Pacquiao.
What about the '83 Pryor (that beat Arguello in the re-match), vs '08 Pacquiao (that beat De La Hoya) ?
Tough fight to call... but Aaron Pryor was special, really fucking special... and his hand speed and combination punching would be every bit as new to Pacquiao as Pacquiao's speed and lightning left hand would be to him... could totally go either way
I'm still taking Pryor.... but I'll admit that since Pryor's time... Manny is the guy I'd give the best shot at beating him. I think Pryor would have handled Chavez, Tszyu, and Floyd.
I forgot about Pea. But yes, I'd take him over Pryor. Pea would be the only one I'd favour over Pryor.
If he can take Arguello's hardest rights again and again and not even take a step back he can take anything Pac will dish out. Pryor was a super freak, super freak, super freaky.
Its hard for me to pick that one.... considering that behind Tyson, Roy, and Ali.... Pea & Pryor are basically tied for my 4th favorite fighters of all time.
Pryor is another one of those invincible mythical matchup fighters. Anyway, this fight is close. I'll call it a draw.
:: I'd pick Sweet Pea over pretty much everyone in history at 135-140 with confidence, with two exceptions - Duran & Pryor. With a gun to my head I'd probably still pick Pernel just not with enormous confidence.
Whitaker would've had the beating of Pryor. Not easily, but that man is just one of the most remarkable fighters I've ever seen, in or out of my lifetime. I used to rank him as the #1 LW in history.
