yeah It was a pretty terrible fight, But it's probably the fight that is the most misrepresented on fightbeat. On other forums, this fight is judged a lot more accurately

IMO it was a clear win for Calzaghe. Not a dominating performance in the sense that the rounds were reasonably close, but Hopkins concentrated on defending himself and landing an eye-catching shot here and there whereas Calzaghe outworked him with room to spare. It seemed as if Hopkins was more concerned in fighting so that he could bitch about the decision afterwards, more than actually trying to turn it his way

That only goes to show how clouded you are by Calzaghe hate. Joe wins round 10 on principle alone, that's the round where he bumsexes Nard and Nard bitches out for a cheap DQ.

Hopkins was more active than usual in that round, but didn't land much, Calzaghe landed more just like every other round from 4 to 12.

If Hopkins got the decision I honestly don't think that many people would have cared and especially not this many years later.

After watching it live had the general "feeling" Calz won it but I never bothered to score it round by round. (which is obviously the only way to do it) I'm certainly not going to watch it again I as simply don't care. If I did watch it another time and scored for it for Hopkins it wouldn't really change anything for me.

Whether or not Hopkins deserved the decision still doesn't take away from some of his shameful actions and I think that's what a lot of people remember.

ABout the 10th round, I agree Hopkins won it, even though apart from a couple of lead rights he mostly wrestled it away. He also won the 11th and first and second, Calzaghe too the rest. By the way the only judge that had it for Hopkins, by a point, was the infamous Adalaide Byrd

Ridiculous, Hopkins landed way more shots than calzaghe in the 10th, and they were cleaner and harder than the one joe landed.

Hopkins landed a couple of eyecatching right hands in round 10 and that's about it, he was more active than usual, and that's why you think he won it.

You're wrong. I called him that because he routinely says stupid things. I have no beef with Stevenson. I'd love to see Kov-Stevenson. It would be a blast while it lasted.

I don't mind people having it for Joe. It was a reasonably close fight, and I could see why some prefered Joe bullshit shoeshing, since Hopkins was pretty negative in that fight, except for the counter and the clinch work (not that calz did much more, as he was himslef really negative, as he was happy to clinch with hopkins).

What I find ridiculous is when some says that it was a clear and easy Calzaghe win

Correct. Slappy has a great style to beat Hopkins. Lots of people want to say that Hopkins was shot yet he's still kicking the shit out of titlists now, years after Slappy retired. Calzaghe is horribly underrated round here. And I hate that welsh toot-heided prick.

The fuck did calzaghe did, except buttfucking hopkins ????
He was less active than hopkins and his shots were softer and not as clean.

I think that your biais is clouding your judgement, so I dont see the point in discussing this any further with you

As I watched that fight I had Calzaghe about two rounds or so ahead but there is no doubt that Hopkins had wrapped in by the 10th. He was 'doing a Haye', throwing himself around trying to get a DQ. It was pitiful to watch (as was the whole fight).

You mean by bias of always having preferred Hopkins to Calzaghe?

I'm guessing I'm one of those people. I said Hopkins no longer had the capacity to fight at the pace Calzaghe managed to force (he was 43) - not that he was 'shot'. YA BAMPOT!

the classical case of claiming of not being a fan of a fighter, in order to overrate him ''objectively''.
From the numerous post i've read of you, it's clear that you are a pretty big calzaghe fan.

You have to be kidding me. Ask my fellow Brits like Slicey if I'm a Calzaghe fan. I hated him for years and even rooted for the likes of Mario Veit to beat him.

But there came a point where I was able to look at him objectively and realised he's an excellent fighter, something you're incable of doing, and this somehow makes you think I'm a fan of him.

I never said that calzaghe was a bad fighter. Only that he's a very overrated fighter. For me , he's about the same level as Froch, though their style and temperament are obviously very different.

It makes me laugh when persons claims he would have thrashed a quality fighter like Froch, who has proven much more than this coward.

Calzaghe fought the guys he was supposed to fight. Which can't be said about everyone who retired undefeated.

I wouldn't be surprised to find out Calzaghe loaded his gloves. His punches were thrown and landed in a somewhat unnatural and unusual fashion. Not saying they were or I know of any evidence of it. Just taking the liberty basically of voicing my thoughts on the matter. I remember watching his fights and thinking his shots seemed weird and sort of like socks with a bar of soap in them.
