yep. Mendes/Edgar would be a great addition to the card. If they are ready to fight Connor, they should be ready to fight each other.
No, you missed my point. I wasn't talking about Aldo's injury. I was talking about Dana making a big deal if McGregor turns down a fight with Mendes or Edgar because they're wrestlers. Just like he lambasted Jones for not fighting Sonnen because Sonnen was a wrestler. And to be completely fair, you are miles off about Mendes and Edgar fighting for the number 1 spot. The problem is that Mendes is already in the #1 spot and Edgar is #2. Why should either of those guys have to fight another fighter in the Top 10 when they're already in position to challenge the eventual winner of Aldo-McGregor. The UFC let McGregor leap frog both those guys because of his hype and since he hasn't fought Aldo yet. I came to grips with that. But now that Aldo is likely out to October, why not let McGregor back up his talk and prove his ability against one of the wrestlers he's managed to avoid en route to the title shot. But let me ask a simple question. If they keep McGregor on the card, who should he fight?
It all might be moot. I just read on the UFC's website that Aldo has a bruised rib and the fight is still on. http://www.ufc.com/news/UFC-Stateme...al&utm_source=multiple&utm_content=1435196556 It's cool that the fight is still on, but now there's an excuse if Aldo loses. By the way, the article says Mendes is the back up plan.
I read you post about the bruised rib, but if It were me as McGregor, i would not agree to fight and the UFC wont let him. THey spent more money than any fight in UFC history promoting this. They arent going to just throw it away.
I read on sheepdog, that Aldo will go through and if it turns out he can't fight, Mendes will replace him.
Now the issue may be, does the rib injury effect Aldo's ability to make weight? He has had issues in the past. TFK
If Aldo fights with a bruised rib, that will set up an immediate rematch if he loses. He'll have the excuse that he was injured in the first fight. An immediate rematch means Edgar and Mendes would have to wait even longer for a title shot.
Why though? Why would he lie? Surely a rib injury isn't going to make Dana let them fight in Brazil ::
OK. I hope not, and the fight goes ahead. If that was true, I'd actually root for McGreggles, bellend that he is.

Indeed. However, McGregor's wide stance does lend it self to getting kicked in the lead leg. Brimage landed a couple and McGregor didn't check them. His lead leg stayed planted. That could make for a punishing fight against Aldo. I still say the same thing on this fight. If McGregor doesn't stop Aldo early, I think Aldo has the advantage as the fight progresses.
He is good at distances. also connor being a left will mean jose has to kick the inside right leg. Make it much better for connor to check
So you're picking Greggles, Anthony? Aldo looks like the better fighter to me but there is an aura about McGreggor, like he can't be stopped atm.
I'm picking Conor over an injured Aldo. Aldo seems to be declining already at 28, and Conor is still improving. I don't know if I'd pick Conor over Mendes or Edgar right now. I don't know how he'll handle the best wrestlers in the division.
Indeed it would be hilarious, after Greggles' non stop smacktalk. You guys have to admit though, it is a bit weird this fight is seen as a toss up, even by the bookies, yet the media consensus is that Aldo is P4P#1, and Greggles isn't even top 15. "Like I said before", the best fighter in the world should be an overwhelming favourite to thrash a guy who is not even in the list.
As a fan of Anderson, I had a bad feeling about Weidman. Anderson almost lost to Chael, and Weidman was better in every way. I didn't think Weidman was one of the top P4P fighters. I just thought he had the style to beat Anderson. He's looking more and more like one of the top P4P guys with each title defense.
exactly. He wasnt in the top P4P. But the people were giving him a good shot against Silva and for good reason. They have seen Anderson for years and saw his weakness, particularly in the sonnen fights and naturally came to the conclusion that this great wrestler in weidman had a shot.
So why do they have Greggles even money against the P4P #1? Should he being a less experienced striker play right into Aldo's hands?
One guy looks like a rising star, and the other guy looks like he might be declining from the wars over the years. Aldo is one of the all time P4P greats. Conor hasn't proven himself yet. I'm not a gambler. I'm picking Conor because it's fun to believe he might be the next big star. It would be fun as a fan if he's as good as he says he is.
Thankyou captain obvious, my question is why do they think he is going to win? It's not like he's a wrestler who could shut down Aldo's offense, he's going to fight Aldo's fight.
