    NO SCOPE......they sent counter sniping teams to hunt him down...he took them all out....the soviet carpet bomb the area they thought he was located.....I don't know I sorta give more credit for a guy who fought during war world 2...than a soldier today....any army who launches 500,000 artillery shells in 30 minutes at the start of the invasion of Berlin....thats an army in fucking beast mode...even if those shells were useless...

    What an outrage. Can't believe this American got his own movie. He's the Micky Ward of snipers. He shouldn't have a movie made about him, especially when there are many more deserving guys out there with more compelling tales. For example:

    Chilean rifleman Javier Thingsgoboom - In a span of 3 years he killed 234 Uraguayan insurgents from 500 yards or more, using only the tip of his penis as his rifle scope.

    or

    Cambodian Rebel, Dith Dangnabbit - In 5 short months he exterminated 456 members of the Khmer Rouge by hiding in paddy fields and picking them off one by one, using only a blowgun and poisoned rice pellets for ammunition. When they finally caught up to him, posing as a prostitute in a traveling Vietnamese donkey show, he took 15 more enemies out with a poison queef, just before being killed by a 16 megaton claymore.


    Disgusted, and I refuse to contribute to Hollywoods piggybank by patronizing this overhyped piece of storytelling. :nono:

    I watched "American Sniper" this weekend and have to say I was pleasantly surprised. I was fully expecting Chris Kyle to be turned into some Rambo action figure come to life and taking down the entire Middle East by himself. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't "Deer Hunter"-deep in terms of peeling back the layers of the horrors of war and the always fun examination of the duality of man. But... It was deeper than just a cowboy killing some "A-Rabs".

    The movie did lean on patriotism and villainize those murderous desert dwelling rascals. I'm OK with that. If you're looking at it from a US soldier's perspective, you probably won't survive or deal very well if you view the "enemy" in any other light. Luckily the film pulled back enough to also reveal the human aspect of even the most hardened soldiers.

    I loved the movie touching on the notion that some people just have an inherent instinct to protect others. I'm not sure I buy into Kyle being one of those guys, but the movie did make you think about that. It's just impossible to know if a guy like Chris Kyle is a borderline sociopath who just enjoys shooting his guns at people, or someone that was really driven by a desire to protect.

    For me, I just feel more comfortable believing the later because it's always good to have mythological heroes out there saving the day.
