I'd pick Better, too. I think he's better than he looks and he had properly horrible, effortless power that just drains opponents, rather than relying on one big shot.

Something like this is what I'd imagine. Maybe a little bit like Gvozdyk fight in a sense, only now Beterbiev isn't as quick as he was then, so Bivol probably sneaks a little further ahead in the early goings.

    Yep...

Beterbiev LOSES Rounds These Days...Lost a Round Here or There to Yarde and Browne and Will Lose a Few MORE vs. Bivol...But to Get His OWN Offense Going, Bivol Will Have to Occasionally COMMIT...Everyone Sees the KO %/Power (Understandably), But Beterbiev's Strongest Asset is his TIMING In REED's Opinion...Even w/His Advanced Age and the Layoff, Beterbiev's TIMING was Sharp AF vs Smith...Like He'd Just Fought 3-6 Months Prior....

There's a 0% Chance of Bivol Navigating an Entire Fight w/Beterbiev Without FEELING Him @ Some Point....& When He Does, REED Expects Bivol to Put Up More Resistance, Yet Eventually Succumb Like All the Rest....

Agreed, Beterbiev is excellent at punching where an opponent will be, not where they are. Activity really is the secret to staying on form IMO; every boxer who stays busy tends to stay at their highest level in terms skill. Toney and Duran are the two who immediately come to mind for it.

Bivol's positioning is excellent, but it's a tall order to ask him to circumnavigate Beterbiev without getting in danger. I think Beterbiev might actually lose the first few rounds in order to break Bivol downstairs. It's gonna be a lot easier for him to cut the ring down if Bivol's legs are getting weary.

I really hope this one gets made, we know both are top shelf, but this is the only fight that'll let us know exactly how good both of them are.

Never really was too impressed by Beterbiev. He's a terrific pressure fighter, and his power is otherworldly, but he's the definition of plodding ponderously. I expect Bivol to give him a good boxing lesson

Beterbiev via late stoppage. He may have to come from behind, but I think he’ll break down Bivol’s body, and lead him into something big that spells the beginning of the end. I don’t think Bivol can hurt Beterbiev. And that’s gonna be a major factor.

    Beterbiev late.

I think Beterbiev is ready to be exposed. He looked ordinary at times Vs the very average Yarde.

To be clear, losing to Bivol would not constitute being exposed. This is precisely the attitude of fans that discourage fighters from taking "hard" fights.

Yeah, Beterbiev backers are really counting on his power to be the difference, and that's usually a losing proposition (though it really looks scary from what we've seen so far). I still think Bivol will mostly frustrate him and take a UD, overcoming a couple of scary moments late I'm the fight. Probably the best matchup of 2024.

Thinking about it, can we start labeling Bivol an ATG if he wins this ???

I admit my mistake in choosing Gaethje over Holloway for my parlay this weekend. In hindsight, I overlooked Holloway's speed and durable chin, placing too much focus on Gaethje's knockout power. Perhaps there's a parallel to be drawn with the upcoming Bivol vs Beterbiev fight. Other than power Bivol is a better fighter.

To win at this level, I feel Beterbiev needs to regularly land punches to drain his target and set up his final barrage of punches. We saw that against Smith, certainly a lesser fighter than Bivol. Beterbiev is unlikely to stop Bivol with one punch. That's why I believe Bivol superior skill and movement will make him prevail over Beterbiev. I think he'll frustrate him and I'm not even sure he'll be in danger at any point in the fight. At the highest level, punchers and bruisers have a hard time against boxers unless they have the capacity to land the knockout punch. In that matchup, I don't think Beterbiev has the speed and movement to get the position and the timing needed to land that punch against Bivol. So, Bivol UD for me.

A bit of Key and Peel and a bit of my own bs.

I'm going out on a limb here....I just hope Evel Beevil has the skills to shine and slide his way to a decision..

I felt Beterbiev looked Vs Yarde as Golovkin did Vs Brook...looked liked he'd slipped a bit.

Bivol will undoubtedly be headed to the HOF if he wins. Whomever wins stamps himself as a surefire HOFmer.

Bivol an ATG though?? Ehhhh, it's hard for me to say all that.

Let's see how the fight plays out. Personally, I think Dmitry Bivol is overrated. But he can prove me wrong on 6/1.

Beevil is no ATG but he's a VVG and he'd be a good live guy against all but the very best.
