Battalino (black trunks with white stripe) was about a year into his FW title reign when he was shockingly upset by the supposedly faded ex-champ Kaplan in a non-title bout. Kaplan, enjoying a huge edge in experience, carried the fight to Battalino all the way and continually outfought him at close quarters. Incidentally, both fighters resided in Connecticut (where this fight took place) and were inducted into the HoF the same year (2003).
