So you can now understand how the Star Wars prequels were enjoyed by many and you don't get it?

Why do you like ghost busters so much? I will need to watch again. I was little when I saw it, but remember it as kind of a zany/cheesy movie with some decent lines.

Not sure, it's sorta perfect and it has a big 100 foot tall stay puffed marshmallow man and a bit where a short tax accountant talks to a horse and a bit where bill murray pirouettes besides a water fountain for the simple joy of it

whether it's your cup of tea or not, Lebovski is a special movie, extremely well-crafted at doing what it does. if you don't see how it's different to most movies, then you prob just need to see it again. it's a characters/writing-only movie. the plot is deliberately pointless, and that means the first watch is unsatisfying/confusing for most people. then when you hear it on in the background on TV, and you're rewatching scenes for the 2nd/3rd time, that's when you start to appreciate it.

coens did the same thing with Burn After Reading and a few other movies, just shoot a load of characters and dialogue that they like and found funny, but Lebovski is the apogee.

glad to see Groundhog Day gets its deserved critical acclaim these days. it was marketed in the early 90s as just another throwaway high-concept comedy; it was always a gem. innovative, philosophical, and with a real heart - and a few classic funny scenes.

notable that something like 96 of those 100 were all made in the English language, in the US or UK. comedy is something that doesn't travel well between cultures. on critics' lists of best movies ever, there'll be a load of stuff from france, russia, japan, south america, other european countries, ....
