Much more than a "line" but i've read that the majority of the drill sergeant's dealings with the new recruits in Full Metal Jacket were ad-libbed.

“I bet you’re the kind of guy that would fuck a person in the ass and not even have the goddamn common courtesy to give him a reach-around.”

Apparently director Kubrick hadn't even heard the term reach-around and it had to be explained to him. Another little known fact is R. Lee Ermey based that kind of person on double L.

Its pretty cool that pretty much the whole scene with Scorsese's mother in goodfellas was Ad libbed. Apparently 'give them food, you love your son but he hasnt called lately, show them this painting you did' was basically the only direction he gave her.

Ermey was not cast in the movie. He was an actual D.I. brought in as a consultant to make the boot camp scenes realistic. Apparently he really wanted to be in the movie and put on a great show so he got his wish.

The actor who was shooting people from the helicopter in a later scene was originally supposed to be the drill instructor.

"WHEN THE FUCK did we get ice cream???" in The Ringer.

You can see Johnny Knoxville lose it and start laughing in the movie.

He was asked why that was left in the movie. He said that was the first time that actor ad-libbed the line so it caught them off guard and only he laughed. After that, the director wanted the line in the film and they did about 30 more takes. According to Knoxville, nobody could keep it together whenever he said it. They were all laughing so hard they fucked up every take. So they had to use the first take when only Knoxville lost it.

In Dumb and Dumber, Jim Carrey ad-libbed a few different scenes. You can see Jeff Daniels laughing his ass off in some brief shots. One of them was the driving scene when Carrey made the "most annoying sound in the world. "

Apparently Sellers adlibbed the 'im sorry but the string in my leg appears to have gone' line and the whole cast buckled but Kubrick liked the delivery so much he had them edit out the IoIz in post.

Exactly as above, in waynes world :'when you were a kid, did you ever find bugs bunny attractive when he put on a dress and pretended to be a girl rabbit':Jest:

Dumb and Dumber seems like a movie where the actors had to hold in a lot of laughter to get thru the scenes.

    "Warriors: come out to play!"

    Han Solo, "I know"

Vigo Mortensen scream after breaking his toe for real while kicking a helmet in "The Two Towers" came on handy as an expression of emotional pain...but it was physical.

    The Usual Suspects

Redfoot was supposed to flick his cigarette and hit McManus in the chest.

He missed and hit Stephen Baldwin in the face with a lit cigarette. Baldwin broke for a moment because he was pissed off at the actor, Peter Greene. Since the script called for an angry altercation anyway, it was left in the film.

    The Outsiders

Matt Dillon falls out of the seat by accident but continued with the scene. The others laughed and C. Thomas Howell almost blew it by looking at the camera when he fell. The second time Dillon puts his feet up he sarcastically digs in so he won't fall again.

Eddie Murphy ad-libbed a lot of Beverly Hills Cop. The other actors didn’t know what was coming, and would laugh. John Ashton almost breaks and laughs when Axel talks about them being “super cops who need capes”. Judge Reinhold would pinch his leg so he wouldn’t laugh.
