That's the point. It's 36 minutes, not 35:58, he could have made it another two seconds. He was coherent.

The principle isn't the time though, it's the state he was in.

he was done. A fighter cannot be saved by the bell in any round. Even if the bell rang, so what. The man was out of it.

Exactly, that's the key point for me. When I first saw the fight I was really surprised that Taylor was much less fucked looking than I expected.

I gave Taylor 7 of the first 8 rounds. Chavez had a good 2nd round I thought.

I gave Chavez rounds 9 and 11, and round 10 could have gone either way. That was a great round.

7-3-1 Taylor going into the 12th.

But although it was nearly a shutout on my card after 8, the rounds were competitive. Chavez was landing solid shots throughout, Taylor was just outspeeding and outworking him.

Sometimes shutouts, or near shutouts, are far more dominating than others. For example, Mayweather-Mosley through 8, and Chavez-Taylor or Mayweather-Jesus Chavez through 8. Similar scores, but obviously the Chavezes were more competitive as Mosley did nothing after the first minute of the 2nd round.

Who cares if he didn't answer? You could see he was relatively OK.

Some fighters just don't answer the ref, even if they're not hurt at all. After getting knocked down, even if not hurt, they're just kind of "in the zone" focusing on recovering, or looking at their opponent, gearing themselves up mentally. You can see it sometimes, it's almost like they can't even see the ref.

    Blatant gift for Chavez.

Nah, he wasn't out of it at all. He was hurt, but not done. He was steady enough on his feet, and his eyes were fairly clear.

Him being completely done is pure Chavez fan bullshit.

How can he be steady on his feet when he is holding the ropes? lol

Guy cant be saved by the bell. You want the guy to win because there is a few seconds? Fuck that. Chavez knocked him out and deserved the victory, no matter what time it was.

And i am not even a chavez fan. Fuck Chavez.

    Check out Chavez-Taylor 2.

Obviously not as great as the first, but still a very good fight.

Fuck him... What the fuck is Duva doing there on the ring apron? Why's Taylor ignoring the referee and looking at Duva? That's the biggest bullshit excuse there is... He's so "with it" that he doesn't even notice a referee shouting at him, looking him directly in the face?

How so? They were practically swollen shut

Are you okay? Are you okay? Never looks at Steele, never nods, doesn't lift his gloves... no acknowledgment... just staring off in Lou Duva's general direction... "Oh, but he protested when Steele stopped it!" ... well maybe he should have shown that alertness when Steele was assessing his ability to continue and asking him point blank, mere inches from his face ARE YOU OKAY??

All he had to do was look at Steele ONCE and nod and the fight is resumed, the bell rings and he wins a split decision... Blame him, blame Lou Duva if you want, but to blame Steele is absurd. His job is to protect the health of the fighter... He's not a timekeeper and you can not be saved by the bell anyway

There's No Way to KNOW that for Certain, Bro...Even if Taylor Responded, Steele Could've Very Easily Waved the Fight Off Anyways...

REED's Mostly Playing Devil's Advocate Here, but the King/Steele/Chavez Relationship Always Made the Stoppage SUSPICIOUS @ the Very Least...

clogg wants to ignore the fact that Steele was seen rolling around vegas in a brand new caddy after that fight. of course it would hurt his agenda as a whitaker apologist !!

He could have stopped the fight 5 seconds after the bell rang. If Taylor was not responsive, he loses the fight. A fighter cannot be saved by the bell.

That's if the fighter is on the deck and doesn't get up in time. A ref can't stop the fight after the fight is over, you mook

    Tyson-Ruddock 1 didn't help his case.
