It's closer to 6"6 but cdogg is modest.

Monzon seemed to have an extra joint in his arm like inspector gadget- punches seemed to constantly land by extending a little bit further than they looked like they were going to. Quite odd. Golovkin actually has something a bit similar going on

I think that's why Monzon could fight in such a basic way yet opponents had so much difficulty doing anything about it. They think they're out of range but somehow they're still getting hit.

Monzon fought like he was 10 feet tall

He was almost as impressive in fighting tall as Steve Forbes

Wlad run would be a lot more impressive if he had beaten the top fighters of his time. I can understand him not fighting his brother, but he should have fought Ruiz and Valuev.

I doubt he would have gotten much credit as they were both shite.

It wouldn't have turned his resume into an incredible one, but at least if he had done so, he could have claimed to have cleaned the division (his brother notwhitstanding). Now, only his most deluded fans claim he did, since he didn't even beat 2 of the longest reigning champions of his era

It's a fair point, granted, I just don't see it carrying much weight in the long term.

TO be honest with you, I think that with his size, chin and jab, Valuev would have given hell to wladerina, and might even have beaten him.

Considering the odds would have been at least +700, you would have stood to make a lot of (make believe) money.

It's crazy how someone can pick 10 +700 underdogs and recall the one they got right.

There was no demand for a Klitschko to fight Ruiz or Valuev because they were seen as inferior product by the entire sport.
Having one or both on their resumes wouldn't change anything for either Klitschko historically, except, maybe, to lock up all belts.

While I would like that, I am in a minority, especially in this type of situation. It's even less important than Lennox not fighting Byrd.

    Go Lucas Browne!

The hell you're talking about. Never claimed I'm infaillible in my pick, in fact I've been wrong a lot of times

And it's ridiculous to say that they wasn't any demand for these fights. They were two of the three most dominant champs of Wlad era (bar the klitch), and among the better fighters of that era (as sad as it is). Only delusional fans didn't want to see Wlad fight these guys. At least, it would have been a lot more interesting than seeing him fight a lot of the garbage man he fought. You sound like the RJ fans who claimed that beating DM wouldn't have done anything for Roy.

You're the one who brought up your superb, pat yourself on the back, Fury pick, not me.

It's absurd to compare Ruiz/Valuev with Dariusz. There was a sizable contingent of fans who wanted to see Roy fight Dariusz. It was mentioned on HBO. Dariusz had beaten the best claimant to the LH title. There was real demand.

Contrast with Ruiz and Valuev who barely registered a blip throughout their respective reigns and pretending otherwise is rubbish. Not worth continuing this debate. I'll let others pipe in if they want.

Absolutely right. There is no point in continuing a debate with someone who think that it would be meaningless for wlad to "beat" arguably the best two opponents he would have ever beat. At the very least, these two guys are on par with haye, byrd, povetkin and chagaev, who are the cream of the cream of wlad resume. And they both would pose some stylistic problem for wlad, unlike byrd and chagaev

They were long reigning titlists yes but Ruiz was never the top-1 contender, probably not even top-3. Valuev was the #1 behind Vlad for a little while but lost the position to Chagaev, whom Wlad did beat.

Wlad beat all the universally recognized top #1 contenders of his era (Chagaev, Haye, Povetkin) and bunch of others but not everybody of course
