Box Office: Guardians repeat, Arthur bombs

To no one's surprise Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy 2 remained at the top spot of the box office in its second week with aproximately $63 million or a 57% drop from its $145 million opening which is what it was expected from these big openings. The Starlord sequel now has close to $250 million domestically and already surpassed the $500 million mark globally.

In the distant second spot, Amy Schumer & Goldie Hawn comedy Snatched which took $17.5 million. The film has been trashed by critics with a current rating 2.9 score on imdb and with its $42 million budget it will be hard to earn its cost back. Schumer's first flop.


Crash landing on the third spot the $175 million budget King Arthur bombed miserably with $14.7 million marking the first big flop of the summer. Like if no one else (besides the studio) saw this coming: I was telling Charlie Hunan's rabid fans at other websites that this movie was going to be a colossal flop. Can't wait to get back to them for a good old "I TOLD YOU SO!".

Rounding up the top 5 Fate of the Furious added $5.2 million to its domestic earnings for a current $215 million and The Boss Baby made $4.6 million for a domestic total of $162.7 million.

 

Why the fuck does an Amy Schumer/Goldie Hawn "comedy" cost $42 million to make?

 

Their salary alone took half of the budget.

 

Will GOTG vol 2 make more than a billion dollars?

 

I doubt it will make that much. Probably will make as much as the first one or a little bit more.

 

It already made $500 million in two weeks. So you think the movie will make no more than an extra $250 million?

 

Guardians of The Galaxy Vol 2 has made almost US$650 million, in 21/2 weeks - so it´s about US$100 million short of Guardian Of The Galaxy´s final global total to date.
It took the first movie almost 21/2 months to make what this new movie has in 21/2 weeks.

The first GOTG came at the end of the summer on August 2014. Had little competition to go against at that point. This time will be competing with all the summer blockbusters (in the next couple of weeks will face off 'Alien: Covenant, Wimpy Kid reboot, Baywatch, Pirates of the Caribbean sequel, Wonder Woman, just to name a few). I doubt it will reach $1 billion. Will run out of gas soon as it has already opened everywhere it needed to make a big splash.

 

So, if the first movie had little competition, it should have made more...

Stop trying to pull this movie down Panchy.....just because you´re all butt-hurt over it.

 

How is not agreeing that it will make $1 billion is pulling this movie down?

 

Because if it was in-favor with you, you´d be all over it for being an amazing box-office smash instead of downplaying it.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar´s Revenge....War For The Planet Of The Apes....Spider-man Homecoming, etc

 

That 'Pirates' sequel alone will easily make $1 billion with over $150 million on its opening weekend...unless North Korea leaks the movie online if Disney doesn't pay the ransom...
