    Exactly

"A setup" MMA fight in the street is missing the point altogether.

When people are angry on teh street and have an impromtu fight, first instinct is to throw punches, next instinct is to pick up and throw or hit with whatever you can find. Someone grabs you you freak out like a madman. In a scheduled MMA fight you have a different mentality.

Which is why, all street fights rarely are resolved with one guy standing after delivering a 5-punch combination to the other dude.

Fights are usually ended on the ground.

Dunno about you punk, but every street fight I've seen..it ended on the ground because someone got knocked the fuck out with a punch and landed on the ground. Of course, the other guy then jumped on his unconscious body and continued to pummel further (violent savage Brits!)...but never have I seen a street fight taken immediately to the ground for some homoerotic grappling.........

Not from my experience. Then again I haven't witnessed as many fights as some of you may have. From the few I've seen, by the time the fight ends on the ground, the fight is over. Punches had settled the matter.

    No they fucking don't.
You're deluded and clearly as you admit, haven't seen many fights.

Here's a tip for you: leave this thread, settle down and go and be thrilled by Star Wars.

    And believe it.

Following this, it'll probably be 'red panty night' for you and the missus....

That was K1 rules....no elbows, one knee per clinch, no proper Thai grappling.

    Much anger you have.

Anger leads to hate, Hate leads to conflict and conflict leads to...suffering.

    Control your anger, you must.

I've been bouncer for a few years (not to mention going out for the last 15 years at least twice a week), and no, fights usually dont end on the ground, at least not with a guy into the guard of another, MMA (or BJJ) style. I would say that grappling ability are very useful, but more to pin a guy agains a wall, or to slam him to the ground, than to do a freestyle wrestling double or single leg. I'd pick a greco roman wrestler, over a freestyle of BJJ guy, any day of the week. As for a boxer, it depends a lot on his mentality. If he's the kind of guy to throw first, ask question later, he'll be very dangerous on the street, cause he can cause the most damage in the fewest time.

not to mention that he would have 4oz gloves (or no gloves) and not the pillows they fight with in k1

Bum ass Nishijima gave a good fight to Hunt with mma rules, even though he was outweighed by a million pounds. Assuming that a boxer get beats by a kickboxer/MT everytimes out because of the kicks is ignorance.

Hang on...Buakaw fought Kalakoda in K1 rules nullifying his main weapons of elbows, knees and clinch, was outweighed by 20 pounds, and was fighting a kickboxer/boxer rather than a pure boxer. A pure boxer with a tight guard, weight on the front foot and no idea how to check kicks and with no shin or forearm conditioning etc would get fucked up in a full Thai rules fight, all remaining equal. Fucked up completely.

I'd love to see Buakaw vs Floyd in a cage, it wouldn't end well for Floyd..

knees are allowed in K1, I don't know why you say the are nullified. Sure, rules limit the use of them, but to a far less extent that the gloves hinder a boxer punches. Not to mention that old fat ass botha managed to take kicks without much problem, and even beat (or was super competitive) with some of the legends of the sport. Not saying that a boxer wins everytime, but dismissing his chances is absurd imo. Hell, the Gracies always said that boxing was the most effective style for fighting standing.

Anyway, this is a conversation that will go nowhere, since a top boxer fighting a top MT will never happens.

In kickboxing rules the referee can give a warning to a fighter who doesn' throw enough kicks.

You'd think that if kicking was totally dominant over pure boxing, you wouldn't need such rule

word. In the real world being able to dust off 2 or maybe even 3 drunken fools quick without getting into the long grass is king. Being able to work an arm bar from your back is to practical self defence as knowing how to roll over a speeding car like a professional stuntman is to pedestrian safety

K1 rules are really limited when it comes to a clinch, they get broken up after 2 seconds so your knees are limited. In fact there may have been rules back then allowing only 1 knee per grapple, not 100% certain.

Thats what i said. Theres was a one limit knee per clinch. Which meant, as i said, that knees are limited, but not nullified

It was only a draw because of the point deductions. Take away those and Anoki won.
