Fuck Algeri! Something I don't like about that elitist sonuvabitch. I'll take great pleasure in Crawford pounding him. It is a shame though that Garcia is moving up. Crawford-Garcia would be THE fight at 140 to see. I think Crawford would outbox Garcia.
I don't believe it was that drastic. They looked a weight class apart which is fairly normal for boxing these days given the lack of talent.
Crawford may be done with lightweight no? Nothing really there for him unless he wants to fight Miguel Vasquez for a lineal crown
This fight somewhat reminded me of Corrales-Frietas. Not in terms of styles, and this fight was more exciting, just in terms of Gamboa, like Frietas, winning the first couple of rounds on handspeed and movement, and Crawford, like Corrales, just taking his time and walking the guy down.
Provo said he found Algeri's style difficult, and Algeri's a fuckin bum. Crawford is a REAL techncian. He outclasses Provo badly.
Crawford too good and too skilled for Gamboa. TC's timing, accuracy, and good counter punching were gonna always carry the day here, even with Gamboa's good start. It was kind of easy to see. If anything, Crawford was a little lazy early and got wild on occasion and that allowed Gamboa to land. But once he got it together and made his adjustments, it was a first class BEAT DOWN... I doubt Gamboa is ever the same after this. Watch them feed him to Mikey Garcia now. Crawford is the truth. He'd whoop up on Broner at 140 and he'd have a good chance to beat Garcia.
He could but Crawford has a bit of courage and bravado. He may hang in there a bit like Bradley did. It is both a blessing and a curse but tonight he showed he's more than willing to take chances and that got him stunned. So it depends on his approach. Algeri took absolutely zero chances out of necessity which actually worked in his favor.
The height was more drastic than the size. But Gamboa is at ANY weight class. This fight had EVERYTHING to do with a world class technician in Crawford brutally exposing the flaws we ALWAYS saw in Gamboa's style. It's a lot different getting away with those sloppy flurries vs a guy like Salido as compared to guy like Crawford.
Crawford has more skill than Bradley, and a higher ring IQ than Bradley's. Tim's one of the most overrated "techncians" of recent times.
That may be true but it doesn't speak to Crawford possibly getting a little too confident if he hurts Prov like he did tonight. He took a LOT of chances tonight. He really wanted the stoppage and he didn't need it. He didn't look terrible in terms of his ability to recover but it's a little slower than you want in a guy like that especially against a finisher like Prov. I'd tremendously favor Crawford, I just wouldn't bet on him.
Bradley is decent, but TC is a world class technician in the ring. That timing and accuracy are unbelievable. And if he can improve his defense even more, your looking at a complete fighter. Crawford did show some flaws tonight, but he has upside. I can see him getting better.
A finisher like Provo? Huh? When the Hell did Provo become Joe Louis? If he was such a finisher, how come he let Bradley and Algeri off the hook?
I think Provo is too limited to beat Crawford. Not fast either. Crawford at his leisure would systematically dissect him and win either via clear UD or possible late stoppage.
Sounds like my man Crawford once again proved there is no more skilled operator at 135... I'm excited to see this replay
On ring TV they reported 152 for Crawford vs 145 for Gamboa. Only a 7lb difference. Hardly massive. The height was the big difference, not the weight. Height is just a massive asset when it comes to fighting and heavily muscled guys like Gamboa who are a bit hobbit like tend to struggle against rangy guys.
He ran out of time with Bradley...Algeri is a bit of a head scratcher. Certainly an all around terrible showing but I wouldn't underestimate him solely on one fight. Especially compared to say the Alvarado fight. I think Algeri got dropped but he wasn't really unsteady and hurt for a long period of time. If I'm trying to recover a big swarming puncher is the last guy I want to see across from me.
You're gonna love it. It was a great fight. Gamboa did well the first 4 rounds as Crawford adjusted to his speed. Then, he timed Gamboa PERFECTLY with a right hook that dropped him, and it was allllll downhill for the big jawed Cuban from there.
a finisher like Provo ????? Ruslan finishing skills are atrocious, his last two losses were due to his inability to seal the deal, and he also let Alvarado off the hook a million time. He's one of the worst finisher in boxing.
There's a concept named natural weight, which help to explain that even if DLH was about the same weight has Pacman when they fought, he was clearly the bigger guy. Gamboa was clearly at a size disavantage, it's ridiculous that some of you refuse to acknowledge it had an impact on the fight.
To be fair, Crawford looked alot sharper in this fight than he did against Wicky. He also looked more determined for a KO. And, it's not like the Burns fight was close. After a slow start, Crawford outclassed Burns. He's a VERY GOOD fighter. He's not a once in a generation type fighter like Leonard, Jones, or Floyd, but so what? Still very good. He's substance, sort of like the anti-Broner, who's flash with little substance.
