CHICAGO (February 3, 2008) Chicago based World Boxing Council (WBC) Lightweight Champion David Diaz is preparing to face off against Ramon Montano on Saturday, March 15th at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The ten round non-title bout against Montano will be Diaz’s first return to the ring following his outstanding win over three division world champion Erik Morales on August 4, 2007 at the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, IL. The win over Morales was Diaz’s first defense of his WBC title and was noted on many boxing writers' 2007 “Fight of the Yearâ€￾ lists.

Arum is saving him in the case that Pacquiao gets by JMM.

Richard Shaefer was trying to make a fight between Barrera and DAvid Diaz but he said Arum didn't want it because he was reserved for Pacquiao.

I guess Arum is just keeping him busy and making sure he don't lose.

I think even if JMM schools Pacquiao, Manny will still face him. Arum has showned that losses don't matter when rewarding his fighters with bigger fights.

hey this guy beat americo santos and drew with a much larger salita - he must be durable if nothing else and is in a habit of prevailing in fights he's supposed to lose.
