Mercer's jab would be a great weapon in this fight, and I think it is the key difference in a decision win for him one thing is for certain... no knockdowns in this one
You'd have to fancy Mercer. But his leaky defense & instinct to trade might get him hit enough to give him some hairy moments & make it close-ish on the cards.
they both have legendary chins, but this is an improper statement. Tua's power makes a KD possible in any match up.
Ray would win easily and widely. Tua had freakish power, but Ray would dominate with his jab. Hasbeen Rahman humilated Tua with his and I think Mercer had a better jab nd was a straight up better fighter. Unless there is a gift stoppage ala Tua/Rahman 1 or gift draw ala Tua/Rahman 2, Mercer wins 9-3 in rounds, easy decision.
Agreed. Holyfield dropped Mercer with a perfectly timed and placed left hook to the chin. I don't know where this internet myth of Holyfield dropping Mercer with a body shot came from. It came from a left hook upstairs that hurt Mercer and Mercer reeled back, then took a knee to avoid the follow up assault from Holyfield. As said before, Mercer's jab should be a key weapon in him winning a decision.
Holyfield's speed and timing were INFINITELY superior to David Tua's, as were his skills... THAT is the biggest reason he dropped Mercer... SPEED, not power harder hitters than Evander couldn't make a dent in Mercer with the biggest shots they threw at him, Tua would be no different
