Spacey is tough. Usual Suspects could be the one but I also think Seven, The life of David Gale or Kpax. He doesn't really have a standout film, he's so good in a lot of them.

Pitt is Fight club without a doubt.

For Hoffman, it is The Graduate, clearly

KPAX??????? Who in the FUCK would say Kpax for Spacey? For Spacey, it pretty clearly comes down to Usual Suspects, American Beauty, or Seven. I'd say Usual Suspects, since American Beauty is gay, and since he played a much bigger role in Usual Suspects than Seven. Had he played a leading role in Seven, that would have been the easy answer. But KPAX????????

    I'd tend to agree.

Rain Man would probably be second.

Yeah, K-Pax was a terrible flop... Horrendously stupid film... It's like saying "Pay It Forward" for Spacey

    Fucking Germans

It's like saying Pacino's defining role was "Insomnia".

Ratzo Rizzo is at least as iconic. I can't even remember the name of his character in Graduate....and hardly any scenes other than the 'you're trying to seduce me' one.

    How bout Sam L Jackson?

For him, it's gotta be either Pulp Fiction or A Time To Kill.

"The Graduate" is a more enduringly popular film than "Midnight Cowboy"

I'm not arguing better here, I think Midnight Cowboy is a way superior film, but I think the average asshole on the street is going to think of "The Graduate" or "Rainman" before that... hell, some of 'em would think of "Tootsie" first... Hoffman was a supporting character in Midnight Cowboy, not the main protagonist... If anything, it is Jon Voight's defining role, not Hoffman's

    That's a tough one

I might think of The Deer Hunter, first

But he's just as famous for playing oddballs in numerous films

Ehh, the more I think about it, I think it's probably King of New York, considering Frank White is probably his most infamous character.

    Brother Neil,

what would make a better movie.. Hanzy and Punchy having a love affair? or Hanzy just dominating punchy and forcing him to love him?

I like the idea of Hanzy converting punchy.. like just forcefully taking him with with curry stick and making Punchy learn to love it
