Crawford is a skilled technician, but his basic instinct is to FIGHT. I think that eventually bites him in the ass against Chico.

Chico by late KO whilst behind on the cards.

Terence is plenty hittable, and not particularly fast or mobile.

    Chico KO 4.

I think TC has the skill set to do it, but he does get hit more than you'd like for someone who's gonna beat Corrales.

If Crawford fights the way he did against Beltran, I think he can pull it off.

    Oh no doubt.

But I think if TC fights in that style, ad stays away from too many exchanges, he increases his chances.

If he brawls too much, one Chico left hook and Crawford is in trouble.

Crawford is a skilled fighter, but he doesn't have the skill set/talent set to beat Corrales. Defense isn't his strongsuit, nor is mobility, Chico would KHTFO.

I think we need to see more of his career before we dismiss him so easily ... He could fight 20 more times and never hit the canvas for all we know ... Right now we don't have anything to go on really... He got shook a bit by some great shots from Gamboa and stayed upright but that's about all we know about his chin and recuperative power at this point

True, I was going to add "Unless he has an absolutely granite chin". Which I doubt he does. It seems OK, but not granite.

As you said, he got stung by little Yuriorkis, who is a LITTLE dude, who really has no business at 135. Chico hit like a monster at 130 and 135.

Nothing suggests he'd beat him, that's for sure. His best win is over a tiny little 5'4 dude, who was laying the smackdown until the size difference caught up to him and started to play a pivotal role.

It's a stretch to call Corrales a bum. The man was a great puncher if nothing else. He had some decent boxing skills too but he would neglect them due to his insatiable desire to fight.

I think TC could beat him, though. But he'd have to fight a counter punching type of fight and resist his own instinct to brawl.

I think Chico would win, but I sure as Hell don't agree that Chico blows TC away in 4.

    Crawford ain't Angel Manfredy.

I think Chico gets him out circa 10-11 after surviving a KD or two and down on the cards.

Has Crawford beaten anybody so far that Corrales would NOT have beaten?

Make no mistake, Corrales would have put Gamboa in a hospital and sent Burns to the morgue.

One flush left hook and little 5'4 Gamboa would be done, for a long time  And yeah, Chico Vs Burns is a joke fight, a slow, featherfisted scrub like that would be cannon fodder for Chico.

Which does illustrate why I think Crawford has become overrated. Who has he beaten? A borderline scrub in Burns, and a tiny little guy in Gamboa, who was putting it on him until the size difference took its toll.

Xplosive, Chico blowing Crawford away in 4 doesn't mean he's no better than Manfredy. You yourself said Kovalev would beat Frock "Just as easily as he did Cleverly" and you surely know Cleverly is an utter scrub compared to Frock.

Crawford just doesn't really have the style to trouble Corrales. He's a good meat and potatoes boxer, but he's not particularly fast, slick, mobile, or hard to hit. That's what troubled Chico. I don't think anyone as hittable as Crawford is going to last long against Chico, unless they have a Hagler esque chin.

This seems like nonsense to me.

How on Earth can you discredit Crawford's resume while pumping up Diego Corrales of all people? Is it because Diego is retired and dead and Crawford is modern and still fighting?

Corralles did virtually zero at 135 pounds.

It's like you have one action war with a good(not great) fighter and suddenly you are the second coming of Roberto Duran.

Probably because Chico's is hands down better, that's the reason why.

Again, Crawford's best win is over a 5'4 midget, it looked like a 140 pounder Vs a featherweight. Apart from that he's only beaten borderline scrubs.

Chico's wins over Freitas, Casamayor and Castillo shit on Crawford's wins. Have you ever seen Chico fight? You say he did zero at 135, and yet Crawford beat Ricky fucking Burns, and a midget in Gamboa

    And?

Casamayor beat him 2/3, stopped him, and was a blown up super featherweight. His only loss was also a split decision that most people thought was a robbery.

Freitas also a blown up super featherweight

Castillo also brutally knocked him out in the rematch.

This site's penchant for overrated punchers borders on fetishism.

Crawford had not much of a resume due to competition lacking but that has nothing to do with his skillset nor does it somehow increase the value of Corrales'.

Honestly Corrales was a pretty garbage fighter.

The guy was a tall welterweight who weight cheated his way down to pick on smaller men, making weight whenever he felt like it and was super chinny with laughable reflexes and concrete feet.

Floyd absolutely embarrassed this guy and that should've really ended the idea he was anything special. His whole "resume" consists of showing up at 145+ pounds to fight tiny men coming up from Super Featherweight, and 2 wars with a guy his own size in which he split 1-1 but was arguably losing the first fight before hitting a perfect punch.

He fought "nothing special" Joshua Clottey in a fight where he wasn't losing all this weight and was dominated and embarrassed because suddenly his power was nothing.

Basically the modern version of that being Chavez losing to Fonfara.

And as far as Crawford goes, he'd easily be the biggest guy Corrales fought in his career other than Clottey(who demolished him).

You are delusional if you think he takes him apart, the guy couldn't box worth a damn.

He has a puncher's chance and that's about it.

And Crawford clearly punches much harder than the likes of Casamayor and is a better fighter than him.

By the way saying Gamboa is a midget when his official height is a half inch shorter than the official height of Freitas just confirms your biased fanboyism and grasping at straws.

Chico himself was a blown up super featherweight ffs, he spent a big portion of his career at 130, it's how he became known, where he fought Floyd etc.

Again, Chico's resumé is hands down better than Crawford's, which is utter shit, be it his fault or not.

Floyd on the night he beat Chico was the best 130 pounder that ever lived. So there's no shame in that. To call Corrales garbage is a joke. Corrales had glaring weaknesses that would have overwise made him an average fighter, if not for the fight that he was an unreal puncher. Not only a great puncher, but once he got you going was one of the best finishers of the last 20 yrs.

Crawford is a much more complete fighter than Corrales, but I don't believe he's at his best at 135. 140 is best weight which has a lot to do with the fact that I think Chico rallies late in this fight.

Nothing of the kind you dolt, if anyone here is a fanboy it's you, incapable of seeing anything objectively.

Do you really believe Gamboa is only half an inch shorter than Freitas? Many height listings are incorrect. Have you seen both of them fight? Gamboa is fucking tiny, Freitas is clearly bigger, Gamboa is 5'4 tops.

You have no idea what you're talking about, he was done by the time he fought Clottey.

Have you actually see him fight other than against Floyd?

He was nothing close to a welterweight, he was built like a stick. He was more suited to 135 than any other weight class. Despite being tall, he never looked significantly bigger than his opponents, being that he was so fucking skinny, a bit like Morales at 122.

Corrales was a blown up Super Featherweight like Chavez is a blown up Middleweight.

I don''t mean he was a welterweight literally. I mean he was a guy who frequently weighed as much as a welterweight in the ring on fight night. He was over the welterweight limit in his fight with Castillo in the ring.

Second, you greatly underestimate the guy's size.

He looked "skinny" because he was intentionally malnourishing himself, if he wanted to put on weight he could have.

You are suggesting using an eye test or two fighters who

A: Have never been in the ring together with common opponents

B: Fought in different eras of broadcast quality.

Im not saying the official height listings are Gospel but they are probably more reliable than a television broadcast.

How do you expect him to rally late against the bigger fighter if, as MWS says, Chico is a blown up Super Featherweight?

And yeah, sure an amazing puncher, Khan has amazing hand speed, still fairly mediocre.

Corrales was a guy who was clearly bested by the Casamayor's of his era, hardly an all time great fighter in and of himself. Basically you throw the guy in with someone who boxes a bit and not someone who mindlessly slugs with him like Castillo and he looks average even though he hurt Casamayor many times in that trilogy.

Crawford is in that same tier...probably better.
