I've been saying for ages that "Bad" Chad Dawson aint so "bad" at all, and I'm right. Honestly though, I thought he was just about good enough to win a close decision over Pascal, but he's not even as good as I thought. Frock > Doorson ::
I think Pascals improved, is more comfortable at light heavy, and would beat Froch in a rematch...Dawson had trouble with someone being faster than him that's for sure but it looks like he'd win a rematch too.
Come on man, Dawson just looked crap. Pascal looked the same as he did against Frock, which was a pretty good fight actually, and Pascal gave a spirited effort, it's not like he looked weight drained or anything. There's something about Dawson, he just doesn't have a fighter's spirit. He got plain outfought by Pascal and never shows any fire. If you can't see that Dawson is completely average at world level after that fight I don't know what to say. Dawson has decent athleticism and skill, but lacks a fighting spirit, and isn't particularly crafty or clever in the ring either.
Sorry Slicey, been really busy working, and I guess I'm partly not making an effort to post at the moment because there's nothing that exciting going on in boxing at the moment :) But yep, you're one of the few that didn't buy the hype on Dawson.
i think pascal has improved since the first froch fight. i mean, pascal was doing 8 rounders against bums before stepping up for a title fight against a guy in his hometown. and it's not like froch looked all that good in that fight. personally, i think dawson kicks the shit outta froch.
:: Pascal looked the same man, almost exactly the same. The key difference being that Frock delivered a fierce, gutsy performance and Dawson didn't. I think Frock beats the shit out of Dawson because quite simply, Dawson lacks fire, he's not a true fighter even as much as someone like Jermain.
If not for the headbutt, no one would be discussing Pascal. And Dawson would handle Froch. Carl has no speed.
This is unexpected, we have some salty Dawson fans refusing to believe that Dawson is simply not as good as they thought. Headbutt schmedbutt, Dawson looked crap and fought with no spirit, Pascal simply outfought him. And Frock would handle Dawson. Chad has no heart.
Dawson fought literally the worst & most frustrating fight in my 12 years of watching boxing. It was worse than Pauli 'I was never shown how to palm a fucking jab' Mallinagi against Khan. I honestly thought he had torn his left rotar cuff given how pathetically infrequently he as throwing it. I mean what was it 2, 3 times a round? Embarrassing. Then the 10th comes, and as capriciously as a persian cat he decides to throw it and sit down on his shots and nearly blows Pascal out. Why not the first round, Chad? Manny Steward was putting his finger on it the entire way through - this was Dawson's fight for him to TAKE. If he just had some balls and authority and FIGHTER in him. Dawson should be doing to a guy like Pascal as Hearns did to a guy like Cuevas or close and Steward knew that instinctively. Basically, I'm reluctant to give kudos for any prediction going in that Dawson was 'overrated' talent wise. I don't think that is what was exposed here, it was something much more damning, IMO. I don't personally wanna watch him fight ever again. He should go find a profession he's more comfortable with.
