That makes no sense whatsoever. If he can makes the weight easily at 154, why the hell is he a natural 165 fighter ?

if Alvarez were to legitimately defeat golovkin would that victory be considered greater than any single win Delahoya had?

Young fighters can boil down to weights they aren't "natural" at.

That victory would detract from his legacy. He needs to get beat up, come back for a rematch and win. Then it might mean something. :D

Yeah, but Canelo never looked like a massive 154 pounders, and I don't rebember him dwarfing any of his opponents a la Gatti at 135-140. Just cause the guy put in a few pounds of water-weight, after the weight-in, it doesnt means he's a natural 160 pounder.

When GGG wins this fight, will we have to listen to Floyd talk about "ruining" Canelo or anything?

He's in his mid 20's and he can't make 154 anymore.

Yeah, now he grew out of the division, but that wasn't the case a few years ago. And he's certainly far from the only fighter that can't make the weight in his mid 20, that he was doing in his early 20's. Guy was fighting at 147 at 20, he's not some massive monster that was cutting weight drastically.

He was gaining 15 to 20 pounds after super welter weigh ins

    He clearly dwarfed cotto

Canelo was a huge jr middle like Cotto was a huge jr. welter. I wouldn't consider either "natural" at that weight. Also, Cotto hit his prime at welter and Canelo is hitting his peak as he moves up to middle.

Canelo will win this fight. The more I analyze the styles and the current abilities of each the more I see him winning.

Nah man - he'll give GGG too much room and time to think, and slowly but surely, Ginger will get closed down and beat up.

I think GGG is slipping and Canelo is peaking ( and hungry as a motherfucker). Canelo has a dependable chin and is more elusive and faster handed than GGG. Guaranteed distance fight and He'll get the decision

Yeah Canelo will have a handspeed advantage, but he's still a bit of a plodder with only medium workrate and decent power, but not the KO juice like GGG has.

GGG will see most of Cinnamon's fancy tricks coming with his extensive Soviet style amateur training, and he has a strong enough chin to withstand the tricks that gets through.

Not saying Alvarez can't take it, he's a talent, but GGG I feel is too strong, too good. I think he could knock Canelo the fuck out. I can't see the opposite happen.

well considering 1 opponent in the last 9 years has lasted the distance with golovkin, yea that sure sounds like a guarantee to me!

Come on Neil, boxing analysis isn't as simple as that. Canelo is smarter and far less hittable than Lemieux, naturally bigger and stronger than Brook and far better chin than most of GGGs other opponents. It's not like GGG hits as hard as Jackson or Hearns; he has power but tends to get the KO by accumulation. Difficult to accumulate a KO against a smart fighter who is also tough young and pretty quick. This is going the distance

Canelo will do better than Lemieux but not much.

I think he's too basic to show anything NEW to GGG. I see Golovkin going out there and getting that telephone pole jab working non-stop, and keeping Canelo on the backfoot where he is just not all that effective. From there, it all depends on how much Canelo is willing to SELL OUT and fight back. Canelo has never been a high volume guy. Always fights in spurts. I think that gives Golovkin too much time to think and too much room that would allow those longer arms to find the right distance.

I could see a late rounds stoppage potential here in GGG's favor. But again, it all depends on how much Canelo wants to open up.

Its not like Golovkin has been feasting on guys who have been KOd repeatedly. most of his opposition had not been stopped, ever. simon, proksa, ishida, adama, murray, monroe, wade, and brook are all guys who had never been stopped.

these were durable if not talented opponents coming into fights against golovkin. now that jacobs was able to survive it has people questioning how devastating of a puncher/offensive fighter golovkin is.

beyond all that jacobs is a very large middleweight, who was BALCO'd to the hilt, and who brings completely different traits as a fighter than alvarez does.

Im glad, it will allow for a bigger payout for me.

Golovkin is already raging favourite at -200.

Hopefully money comes in on Alvarez, then get on Golovkin.

I may actually bet on this fight. Hopefully GGG becomes a prohibitive favourite and I can make some money. I'm pretty convinced that Canelo is going to win.

I will be rooting for GGG just because I want to see Crapnelo beaten soundly. That said, GGG is showing signs of aging and becoming more hittable, plus Canelo has faced better opposition than GGG. It will be interesting to watch. I want a WAR, but probably will get a chess match. :(

I think it'll start off as a chess match and then escalate quickly into a war. I think we're going to get the best Middleweight fight in years. GGG is a pressure fighter...he wont change that....and Canelo fights best when his opponent comes to him and that causes him to explode with combinations. Neither man would have to look hard for the other.

if/when the fight lands in vegas at some point a shitload of money will come in on Alvarez when all the rich guys from mexico get to town and it willl get down to even. at that point all the sharks will bet big on golovkin and it will go back to 2-1
