Kov is a lot more skilled and fluid than Little Red was, and P4P has quicker hands, but for PURE power... Lopez was frightening.
Lopez is hilarious... he looks like a matchstick man and his punches are slow but it's like he just sort of sticks his right hand out in front of him and the other guy responds like someone dropped an anvil on his head from 30 floors up He also does this while his mop of read hair shakes all over the place from his opponent landing 4 punch combos on his face
70s Foreman wasn't as slow as the myth says. 80s/90s Foreman was slow. 70s Foreman was often too wild, but I feel his handspeed was better than people give him credit for. Danny Little Red Lopez was truly a sloth. No handspeed whatsoever.... just a punishing jab, and a brutal right hand.
70s Foreman was pretty slow, faster than he 90s version but still pretty slow. He didn’t produce devastating punches coming out of nowhere...you were alerted to their arrival by telegram first. He was just so intense and strong and there were so many of them coming at you that it didn’t matter.
in the 70s, foreman used to pretty much just throw haymakers. Very few straight punches (apart from jabs). Mostly all hooks and uppercuts. Tremendous natural strength and power but not a fast guy by any means
That's untrue. Watch BOTH Frazier fights... the punches had more velocity on them than people give him credit for.
The way you have to look at it is this: Since the 60s, which Heavyweight champions were slower handed than Foreman?
Never seen any Kovalev fight where he looked like a devastating puncher. I think that´s Kov-Fanaticism.
No but come on: Hopkins aged 65 is not the ideal example of 'iron-chin-but-dropped-because-of-huge-punching-power'
Good Point... The Shot That Dropped Ward was Akin to Knocking on a Door...Wasn’t Turned Over, Torqued or Snapped at All... Yet Ward was Hurt.... REED
I never understood why some say foreman had effortless power. Dude was throwing haymakers from his hips
In the Norton fight, George lifted poor Kenny off the the canvas with a series of uppercuts that didn't even have full body weight on them. He had effortless power
Lopez had skinny arms, but those smokestack shoulders did it. :) That. or he used to catch them right on the end of the punch. Nice timing.
