Ya know, Kelly Pavlik was an effortless puncher. I'll never forget the perfect straight right he iced Zertuche with. Like Lopez, Pavlik had those skinny arms yet very broad shoulders.
Really? Show me at what point Foreman does this... ....to Ken Norton here: He doesn´t. Before the 8-count he had Norton stumbling backward into the ropes, arms flailing. Secondly, he punches Norton backward again who staggers into the ropes. Third, Norton actually tastes the canvas fully of an accumulation of punches ending with a left-hook. Gets up but in no condition to fight on.
Let's just say that we have a very different definition of effortless power It's pretty much impossible to load on punches more than he was doing
Definitely a fan. Gotta admire too that even in the 12th, with the fight won, he was still going toe to toe. I like Estrada too but I agreed he lost. For a second, looked like he might be on the verge of stealing it in the 12th but Rungs stayed in there. Seemed like Estrada hurt him more than Chocolito had managed to.
I’d add Mayorga to the list. Out of control- yes, but he could do some serious damage when he landed.
Boring choice but i could watch joe Louis' punchìng technique all day Also: there'd not much footage of him but loved freddie little's punching style....it was like the goal of his entire style was to expend as little energy as possible. Keeps the other guy at bay with implied threat, basically uses gravity to generate power. I'm talkin' lazy!
I always agreed with George that it would have been a bad idea to allow George to fight Quarry. It sounds utterly mad but I think Jerry could have timed him and had him in serious trouble.
Of course there is Hitman Hearns, Julian Jackson, Manny Pacquiao, Trinidad But my Favourite puncher ever is Bob Foster @ 175. That left hook is the best punch I've ever seen and he was an artist in the ring, he knew his right hand was almost useless, but he had an amazing left hand... his jab was a telephone pole and would jab up and down, feint along with the threat of his right hand just to set up an opening to land that left hook. Honourable mention to Alexis Arguello, who had different power - they said he had razor blades in his gloves - he always managed to cut his opponents, along with breaking them down and stopping them in the double digit rounds. Another artist in the ring he knew he had 15 rounds to work with and he would lay the foundation early to mid in order to punish his opponents in the later rounds
