Listen, you stupid fucking cunt, fame is a relative concept. Right now. the name of Luis Suarez is trending around the World at a great deal faster than Le Bron Hamess.

Simply in how many viewers it gets worldwide, surely it's going to beat pretty much every other match in history?

    I agree with noble.

Half the reason this fight is so big is the utter crap matchups we've grown accustomed to. Compared to that, this fight is indeed big.

The other reason is they've been dangling this fight in our faces for five years, with pbf delivering awful shit in the interim.. ortiz? Guerrero? What a farce!

It's like the Obama presidency. Not until it's all over will we realize how shitty things have gotten and how depressing and deprived things have become.

Historically the early fights were pretty massive. Boxing would sell out over 70,000 tickets and fill stadiums. Just as horse racing was bigger back then it is today so is boxing.

The early interest was racial. Which race would prevail? Jack Johnson, Joe Louis. Dempsey was demolishing people in devastating fashion. Ali perfected the blueprint of the modern fighter developed by Robinson, with tons of charisma and smart boxing. My first superfight was Leonard-Hearns I, that was pretty big. "You're blowing it kid!". De la Hoya had cross over appeal and was undefeated as Trinidad was when they had their huge event with fight not so explosive because of Oscar's movement and his defusing of Tito's power. Mayweather's fights are usually boring but technically exciting, he had to amp up interest by using his mouth, same as Ali. Floyd doesn't have Tyson's devastating power or the interest in him personally that the public has for Tyson. Manny doesn't speak English well but is beloved all around the world.

From a pure technical stand point, these two are the best fighters in the world. Yes the fight should have happened 5 years ago, but this fight is still pretty massive. Everyone and their brother thinks the winner will make history, and be the best of his era. That's pretty fucking significant.

This has Racial Overtones and I do not mean Black vs Asian either.

It's about whether Uncle Sam still has it or not.

    Floyd isn't Uncle Sam.

    The event is Uncle Sam.

Will the American Model prevail. ..........that is the burning issue.

Let's see how long Mayweather doesn't revert to his old self and instill some insensitive remarks. This isn't and will never be about race. Germany shellecking Brazil in the world cup wasn't and isn't about race. From a technical and psychological stand point, they were able to win their fourth championship over the soccer crazed nation. I'm sure most people know who Floyd and Pacquaio are in Germany and Brazil. The interest is in from a sport perspective. Who is the best?

The fight will be in Vegas but it belongs to the whole world, and hopefully it will be looked upon favorably through the ages...

Eddie Murphy perfectly sums up how PacTards and FloydIdiots are over-reacting to the importance of this fight.

No. The goal of every fighter is to get paid as much as possible.

Golovkin could have made more fighting Martin Murray in Liverpool than the USA I am sure of it. He certainly could have made more in Germany.

This is pretty close to it.

    It's a question of relativity.

I think Hut nailed it with the Hagler-Leonard example.

Boxing is like a fox. It will get good mileage out of carrion.

This fight is carrion. It's past its sell by date, but it generates lots of "interest"...and "publicity" and there is no such thing as negative publicity in boxing.

Hagler vs Leonard is the best example I can think of too.

The difference is this fight is bigger due to today's talent starved boxing climate. Actually not just talent starved, but cherry picking. It's a cherry picking, talent starved climate, in equal measure.
