So much of the non-fighting in this video is comedy gold.

    First off the music.

Secondly, the show being introduced by "Desmond Lynam".......who looks like he just walked off the set of The Wild Bunch or The Magnificent 7.

Third......Desmondo El Lynam tell us "as you may know....Charlie Magri and Colin Jones had unsuccessful World Title Attempts recently........." .........most people probably in the Magri and Jackson households had barely heard of Magri or Jones

Fourth........."Juan La Portay" :palm:...........all night "LaPortay"

Fiftg........Alan "Black Man" Minter , a southpaw, is turned the wrong way in his chair and tries to play it down by swinging about in his chair from side to side like he is avoiding invisible punches.

    Then....and what the fuck was it about the 80's..........they use the most unflattering picture they could find of McGuigan, who looks like a kid in a holiday snap taken outside some Spanish resort nightclub after he had a few too many sangrias.........sort of like what the Irish Police did with Bob Geldof when they used a photo of him like he was coming down of some epic opiate high..........on a show also introduced by a guy with a classic Hollywood Irish name who also looks like he just walked off the set of some shitty Spaghetti Western {30 seconds in but worth watching from the start}

Exactly... That loss was about lack of fundamental skill... Hamed had nothing to fall back on... He was the faster man, the harder hitting man but he was an inferior boxer by miles and MAB didn't fight the kind of stupid fight that might have allowed Hamed's great physical gifts to turn things around

He fell back on power and pure speed. Usually when fighters start to slow down they make up for it with skills and experience. Hamed didn't really seem to have that to fall back on and he seemed to try to reinvent his style. At the time people said he was underuse get his natural talent trying to be more orthodox but looking back his talent was fading and he was desperately trying to find skills he never had.

Hamed's style changed quite a bit in the last few years of his career. Early on he spent a lot of the time fairly squared up, leading with power shots from gloves held 'peak-aboo' at chest height- under Suarez that morphed to a (nearly karate style) side on, consistently low gloved style that relied more on a slapping jab. More of a stationary, longer range fighter (with lower hands reducing the effective speed of his counters). He also switch hit less. There's every chance Barrera would have beaten any version but I think he was diminished by the time he got him ....he looked just as awful vs Sanchez and calvo as Barrera made him look

Bitch boy Floyd arguably has three opponents who he loses to if he fought them at their peaks.

    TBE opportunist.

I thought I asked about Norton vs Holmes before :scratcher:

Holmes was in his prime, Kenny was about 1 year from being put out to pasture by Cooney

    uh, what?

He lost to Cooney almost three years later... In the interim he suffered a horrific KO against Shavers... But Norton was also uniquely vulnerable to insane punchers like Shavers, Foreman and Cooney ... There's a good chance he gots KO'd by all three at ANY point in his career... His chin wasn't even bad really, but against guys like that, he just froze up and took flush bombs

    I'd add Khan vs Judah.

I know Zab was never a great fighter, but in his prime IMO he woulda sparked Khan.

He was toast when Khan fought him. Couldn't pull the trigger to save his life. That wouldn't have been the case against a young Judah.

I dont agree. Wlad doesnt fight much different in his youth and now. He lost to hardcore bums throughout his career, so its very possible he loses to Fury at any point also.

Wlad was unable to pull the trigger against Fury. The classic sign of a worn out fighter. And it wasn't because Fury is some elusive target, or because he's powerful or intimidated, Wlad just couldn't get any punches off.

At 24 he murders Fury. Fury isn't any better than the bums Wlad was going through back then.

How many guys did Wlad fight who were bigger than him? I can't think of many besides possibly Wach? He looked quite tall.

A prime Ali would have easily defeated Jose Miguel Agrelot "Don Cholito', but even then Iris Chacon's booty would have distracted him anyway.

He also fought ultra timidly against Mcline, but the difference is that Mcline sucked, while Fury is an excellent fighter. He always was a reluctant fighters when he faced tall guys. He would lose to Fury even in his prime imo.

Right man in the right place with the right style at the right time.

The History of Boxing, in a nutshell.

Buster Douglas probably doesn't crack most peoples top 15 lists of the 80's or 90's if he doesn't meet Tyson in Tokyo

Tyson Fury is a terrible boxer by comparison to the other men who have been the HW Champion of the World. Terrible.
