I agree, I think Barrera was just the better, more technically sound fighter. Even when Hamed was younger and quicker with his reflexes, he got caught a lot. Medina hit him a lot and that was 5-6 years before the Prince fought Barrera. If Barrera fights very aggressively then Hamed has a pretty good chance, but it's not like he came forward and fought like Margarito. He could always brawl and box.

You can see that a lot of posters never laced em up, if they think that a 6 feet 8 giant who is as agile and move this swiftly is not an excellent fighter. Fury would best easily a few guys who are considered solid hw champions. Is he on the level of tyson, ali or lewis? No, but few mans are.

Douglas wasn't lacking in talent though. He couldn't put the fork down.

Fury is a big oaf who beat an old man in a pose fest.

There are a HELLUVA lot more heavyweights in history other than just Ali, Tyson, and Lewis who are better than Fury.

He's closer to Franz Botha level than Ali, Tyson level.

He would have beaten just about any version of Frans Botha.

If you are comparing Furry to some of the litany of 'titlists' who have somehow held a HW championship belt, there are certainly a good few of late he would have beaten. Look at that appalling stiff Joshua bowled over a few months back as a perfect example.

However, Fury is THE current Heavyweight Champion of the World. The universally recognised champ - the man 'who beat the man'. He isn't some paper titlist. He therefore stands to be compared against those who held a similar standing - Lewis, Tyson, Ali, Frazier, Liston, Foreman, Holmes etc - not Botha, Akinwandi, Martin and the likes. By comparison to his supposed peers, he's fucking garbage.

You've just compared him to a consensus top 7 ATG HW fighters

By that reckoning, we need to get rid of Canelo, cos, you know, they had Ray Robinson once, too

He would beat his share of real hw champions also. He would mop the floor with Marciano, old Walcott, and Patterson (bar a once in a lifetime bomb). Not to mention these old white robots from before the 30's. And also Wladimir.

And guys like Frazier and Liston would struggle like hell against him. People don't seem to realise that the guy is a 6 feet 8 giant. Of course he won't look as fast and coordinated as a guy like Ali or Tyson. But his size, coupled with his fluidity, would make him a very tough match up for nearly everyone.

You compare apples with apples, no? If you are THE HW Champion of the World, that is the right comparison. It's the comparison that is made against the man he beat to win the title. You cannot compare 'The Champ' with a bunch of bauble holders. Of course he should be better than a bunch of those.

Yes, but, in a regard, Fury was in perfect keeping with the old tradition of boxing. Right man, Right place, Right time.

The current lineal World MW Champ isn't even a fucking MW, much less on a level with Ray Robinson or even Harry Greb

Which is why people consider him a weak middleweight champion. He isn't even the best middleweight now, let alone by comparison to those he follows. Furry is 'the champ' but he's a weak one by comparison to those of the last fifty or so years and he may not be the best heavyweight fighting now if the Joshua hype is true.
