Yeah, it's basically shit, right?

Still...at least it keeps the standard of all other boxing movies...

 

Yeh there's no where to begin, but the most annoying was that there was no training or hype for any of the fights...also it didn't show his reign as lightweight champion, or show that Leonard was a big deal
He basically beats Buchanan and Leonard in the same week

I really only gave it a 3 cos of the tits...so 1 for each tit and 1 for Durans hair

Though the sex scenes were confusingly unnecessary...it coulda been a PG movie if it weren't for 20 seconds of footage :scratcher:

Gotta agree with Roll With Punches about the unneeded sex scenes, but watching Ana de Armas naked and riding cowgirl style made me elevate the score of this film to a 10+. Okay the film is not that bad, but not very good either, just watchable.

What it did right: the costumes particularly the trunks used by all the actors portraying the boxers were exactly like the real ones plus the fights were accurate reenactments of the key moments of those Duran fights and no bullshit artistic licenses were taken. Did I already mentioned Ana De Armas being naked?
What it did wrong: too much Robert DeNiro. I get he is a legend and the biggest star of the cast, but by crying out loud the movie was about Roberto Duran, not Ray Arcel! Duran here is not very likable. In fact he comes across as a hot tempered ungrateful SOB, so is hard to root for him. Edgar Ramirez excellent performance, however, makes him come across as more human than the two dimensional character the film seems to be pushing for. All the salsa songs were wrong for the years they were played. Is like saying 'here is a 70s disco scene, lets play a Britney Spears song!'
Like I said the movie is watchable and Ana de Armas is insanely hot. Worth watching once and replay those de Armas scenes later. 6/10
