The whole point of mma is to be as close to real life no holds barred fighting as possible, while still being a legal form of combat in today's world.
MMA incorporates all styles. In boxing, you just use your hands. In MMA, you use your hands, legs and elbows.

No, Floyd just sucks at it period. He has no language smarts, no wit. Antonio Tarver and even Roy Jones´retaliation, that was some funny stuff, postpresser Ruiz/Jones. The UFC has never attempted to discredit a professional boxer the class of a Tyson or Lewis. The most they have ever said is "It would be very interesting to see a world class boxer inside the octagon."
At most, they refer to the possibility of how a great boxer would do his business under MMA rules. But never have they gone outright with insults towards boxing because of boxing's rich history not to mention the tremendous amount of skill level required to be a good boxer. Which is the same in MMA. It takes skills. It's not just guys rolling on the ground.
Both sports can co-exist.
