I don't see Golovkin-Canelo being as competitive as Ward-Kovalev was...

Canelo doesn't quite have the attributes that Ward possesses to be able to deal with a guy who is stronger, more powerful, and more skillful than him.

The hype will be greater than the fight.

Oh make no mistake, casuals think Broner is Floyd "without discipline."

Check YouTube and other social media to see how much hype he gets from adolescent casual fans.

Canelo has a different style to ward but he has certain attributes that'll give GGG fits....handspeed, chin and ring generalship being just three of them. Canelo also has enough power to keep GGG honest.

Sig bet says that at the very least it's a closely contested fight

I'm shocked. Broner's nothing like Floyd.

If anything this will be a Super Bowl for the MMA crowd. I don't believe boxing fans take this seriously.

    I WANT to see Canelo-GGG.

IF Canelo v Golovkin either a) fails PPV/viewing and b) the fight itself bombs - and given it comes after the Mayweather v McGregor fight (which people are already saying will 'harm boxing' even more) - would your 'faith' in boxing drop?
I mean, what else is there to look forward to outside of Anthony Joshua?

    Likewise Lomachenko.
They're all great technically but are they exciting enough to crossover from pure Boxing fans to Joe Public?

I don't care about "mainstream" fights. I want to see great fights.

The Mayweather - Pacquaio snorefest should have been the final shot over the bow in terms of fights that are made for mass consumption and business reasons rather than match quality. Anyone purchasing Floyd's recent farce is making that same mistake.

I think GGG wins. Not sure if Canelo has enough power to fully discourage GGG. I think it'll be a good match for the first 5 or 6 rounds then Canelo will run out of gas and get stopped.

I just can't see Canelo gaining his respect. GGG will eat flashy shots but they won't have the impact he's used to seeing.

    That's what my gut says.

That's really what I'm getting at: if the above is the case, does Boxing continue as a 'fringe-sport'?

Boxing will always be a fringe sport compared to the most popular sports of a region, but it's global. You see how when boxing slumps in the US there's always some Eurobum filling arenas somewhere or some guy who's a national hero in his third world country.

GGG is clearly slowing down and out of his physical prime, which is to expected with his age and style. He's not as explosive and fluid as he used to be but he's still very strong and skilled.

I don't see Ginger as having the boxing skills to take advantage of GGG slowing down by boxing. The jab would eat him up. He can land and do damage since GGG is a bit of a sitting duck but unless he really fucks GGG up in the first 7 or 8 rounds I don't think he has the stamina or will to win a war.

Canelo's Going to ATTACK GGG's Body in a Way Golovkin's Never Experienced as a Pro, Also...

This will Most Certainly Be a Competitive Fight...

I don't even know why you'd compare Canelo and Ward.

Andre took a shit this morning that contains more talent than the Ginger has in his body.

Canelo could also expend so much energy trying to keep GGG off him he wilts.

The Canelo apologists haven't considered that in fighting stiffs like Chumpez, Smith, Khan, and Kirkland, Canelo has been able to PICK and CHOOSE whenever he wants to fight/take a breather. He won't have that luxury against Golov. He'll be under CONSTANT pressure and will have to expend constant energy.

I'm not disrespecting the Ginger by saying he isn't in the class of Ward. I'm stating fact.

While Golovkin is past his prime, he won't have reach back 5-6 years ago to beat the Ginger.

The Golov that beat up LeMoo will suffice.

Ginger will have Hell with Golov's jab and will be consistently backed up.

Unlike "Lemoo", Canelo has a boxing brain, is a ring general and is a great combination puncher. GGG will indeed apply pressure, but Canelo's style works well when a guy comes to him.

Canelo's style works well when a guy stands in front of him. I can't see him fighting that well if he's forced backwards.

While Triple G has Certainly Gotten MORE Mileage Out of his Jab, it's NOT Guarantee he Wins that Battle w/Canelo...

Canelo has a VERY Underrated Jab...

Nobody Ever EXPECTS a Good Jabber to Be Outjabbed, Until he's Outjabbed...

Beyond that, it's Not Soooo Much about Outjabbing Triple G's Jab, as it Is NEUTRALIZING It...If Canelo Can BEAT Golovkin to the Jab a Time or 3, he Could Offset It...

Shorter Man Doesn't Always Lose the Battle of Jabs...
