If this was directed by Michael Bay you will say this looks like a shitty movie.

Lets check what's here and its implications:

    1. Cornfields...as seen in many scifi films from SIGNS to LOOPER...why not oranges, or rice or tomatoes?
    2. Earth climate change messing with our food supplies...another Global Warming message film that Al Gore with give thumbs up.
    3. Alright, Alright, Alright will leave behind his children to jump into a wormhole in space hoping to find an Earth-like planet with enough corn to continue munching Fritos?
4 LOOK, GRAVITY FANS: Anne Hathaway looking like Sandra Bullock!!
    5. SPFX wormhole effect as cool as...Star Trek Deep Space Nine from 1993...zzzzzz
    6. Why this reminds me of Jodie Foster's 1997 film CONTACT? Maybe because after such a huge build-up, all we got at the end was a child's tempera painting passing as a interstellar destination?

Bay would never make a movie this big without a slow mo explosion. Just because i see McCaunaughey it doesn't remind of contact, sorry. Just because a girl is in a space suit, it doesn't remind me of Gravity, sorry. A movie can be about space and not remind me of other movies about space. I think in my mind that my mind is bigger than that.

At this point, I'll watch just about anything by Nolan that DOESN'T involve Batman.

Predicting what may or may not happen in a movie, doesn't overshadow whether it's well done or not. I'm sorry Panchy, but comments like this is why I stopped reading IMDB forums. :nono:

Nothing more then self-fulfilling "I told you so's" masked as a critique of something you haven't actually seen...and now you've painted yourself in a corner. You will claim this film is trash once you see it, whether you believe it or not.

Now you are misreading my comments. I stated first that this might turn out to be a great film, but it doesn't hint at that in this new trailer which looks more like a longer teaser. I am criticizing this trailer and how average it looks, not the film itself. I don't get excited about directors. Nolan is a good director unlike Spielberg or Scorcese who are great directors, but even for those two don't go running to watch their new films unless the trailers hook me. This one looks mildly interesting, but not enough to convince me to pay $12 for a movie ticket.

So he is gone for a while, since Chastain is basically is daughter as a ground woman. I wonder if Casey Aflack is his son. They wont give their last names on IMDB, so i dont know.

How can you not think of Contact?

I read the script for Interstellar. It's very underwhelming.

One movie is about Alien life sending plans on how to make a ship to meet them.

The other is about Earth dying and we need to find a different place to live.

What the hell do the two movies have to do with each other?

Is not the plot being similar (they are not), is the 'hoopla' of something great that ranks as 'important' that reminds me of 'Contact', only to then fail to deliver. I hope all we see in this trailer occurs only in the first half of the film, because if all we see is a 'jump to hyperspace' in the last 20 minutes of the film, that will suck massively.

I hope I am wrong since I love to be entertained with positive sense of wonder from great scifi films, my favorite movie genre.

See that, I could have turned that on Joe...but I'm a humble, self-effacing good guy, and I didn't have it in me to take the easy target. You're welcome Joe.

Don't all trailers do that these days? Just give me a 'welcome to Jurassic Park' moment, a 'and we got a Hulk' rampage or a 'Pandora' tour! dammit ANYTHING that will put my arse in a movie theater seat, not just an Al Gore propaganda clip!

I'm with you Fancy Panchy. So far I find the trailer underwhelming and will not see the film unless word of mouth or good reviews come my way. To me it's almost like by showing these weak ass trailers it's almost like they're hiding a piece of shit movie. You know kind of like that one Sci Fi film...Contact.

Come on, son! You know what we mean. Imagine if the trailer for Jurassic Park did not showed one single dinosaur. Will audiences would had run to watch it based only on non-dinosaur scenes? or Avatar showing no Na'vi and no Pandora shots in its trailer. Will it have been a hit? No way! Something needs to hook you (in your case is just Nolan as director, but for the rest of us, that is not enough).

Anything that will make think that this is more worthy than to wait for a Redbox rental. Maybe better spfx or a shot of population masses entering a spaceship or a brief shot of the actual destination.

Because the trailer looks like a low budget tv movie. Where is scene with world leaders deciding to leave the planet? It looks like most of the plot happens in a small rural town surrounded by cornfields...Night Shyamalan's trademark. :boohoo:

Again, you want the whole movie in the trailer. The exact issue many movie fans have issues with when Hollywood tells the whole movie in the trailer. A trailer is suppose to give you an idea what the movie is about without spoiling it and giving away too much. It's suppose to wet your whistle. And you got he current best actor in hollywood, with arguable one of the best directors in Hollywood giving you a taste of a movie they are doing together. That's all you need.
