Jack The Giant Slayer had a disappointing opening and claimed the top spot with $28 million, which is very low for the $200 million budget film. Warner Bros must be blamed first for giving such an astronomical budget to what is in essence a retale of the children's fable and second for barely giving it any marketing campaign. It will make less than last year's bomb, John Carter. In other news The Hobbit surpassed the $1 billion worldwide and closed last week its domestic gross with $301 million. New Line retired the film from USA screens even thought it could had stay longer milking a little bit more money for the studio like the last Twilight which is still around even though it will be released on DVD this month.
Just about every movie produced in Hollywood these days is sh*t. Just a sh*t load of CGI, whacky effects, crap stories and remakes.
Yeah and even the top line drama films that were expected to be so good have all been meh. Argo, Zero Dark Thirty, Life of Pie and even Flight were all merely ok dramas. I thought the best drama I saw in the last few weeks was a late viewing of 2011s The Ides of March.
