clogg let's compromise. How about we just eliminate great whites? We can keep all the other sharks. Just the great whites and maybe some other asshole out there.

    I still vote "nay"

Shark attacks on people are very rare

You have a better chance of being struck by lightning

Great Whites do far more good than harm

depends on where you live. The chance of a great white attack increases if i live in florida.

That being said, what if we put up a gate around our oceans about 2 miles out. And then force all the sharks on the other side of that fence?

    still almost non-existent

You can basically guarantee 99.9999999 % of all Floridians that they will never be bitten by a shark

I hear not swimming where you might get attacked by a shark works pretty well too.

Because we Floridians keep a watchful eye on those mutherf@ckers and when they come to the beaches, everybody runs out of the water and the beaches are closed until those mutherf@ckers decide to leave.

As a Florida native that has spent tons of time diving, fishing, swimming, surfing, skiing, etc off the coast of Florida, the shark fear thing is ridiculous. When you look at the insane number of people that visit Florida and swim at our beaches each year, 53 shark attacks in 2012 (Highest in a decade) is miniscule.

One of my favorite fishing memories is reeling in a 10' Hammerhead shark on the beach at a resort on Sanibel Island and watching the stunned gasps of a group of about 20 German and Canadian tourist as my brother and I pulled the beast up on the beach. The fun part is that we were surf fishing in nipple deep water when we hooked it. My brother walked into the beach to get his camera and told everyone within earshot that Jaws would be on the beach in 15 minutes.

****The Hammerhead was actually closer to 6' but it's a fishing story bitches******

It's extremely deadly and strikes 1 in every 5 tourist in Florida. Don't visit....

Kidding... Heat lightning is a made up thing. It's just distant lightning so far away that there's no thunder. It's common in Florida because the state is so flat and a penisula so storms that are way off shore generate lightning that can be seen even though the night might be clear.

It sucks balls. But my wife, a Pittsburgh native, says at least we don't have to scrape humidity off our windshields every morning.

i guess that's true, but sweating at 8am isn't any better.
