Anyone else thinking Maynard and Edgar give him big problems? After seeing Hominick figure him out in the last round keeping him on his back and raining down blows. Looks like that may be the blueprint to beat this guy.

Yes and no. He didn't look comfortable on his back at all, but I think part of that was being weight drained/tired.

He didn't look his best for the whole fight.

I thought he looked the same, but on his back, he looked lost. I could see good wrestlers giving him probs. Especially wrestlers at 155 that can match his power.

Aldo needs to move up to 155.He looked like a fighter that left some of stamina in the gym, once it gets to that point its time to move up.

    I think he'll be a better fighter at 155

Aldo indicate at the post fight press conference that he didn't fight to get off the bottom because he was riding it out until the end of the round. He claims he knew he had the fight one.

I doubt it, but I don't think it's relevant. Hominick took him down once and it was in the last round when Aldo was completely tired.

Personally I think Gray Maynard gives anyone problems that isn't a good wrestler.

If you don't see that Aldo was gassed, I am not sure what planet you are on. Aldo would be a small LW just like Edgar. Maynard is a huge LW with great wrestling. More significantly, the best wrestling at 155. That is a rough match up for ANYONE at 155.

Agree. He can say what he wants, but I think the cut was more problematic that he indicated. He looked exhausted in the 2nd round in my opinion.

The thing is though Bob, you can say that about ANYONE in the sport

Good wrestlers do ridiculously well in MMA, even ones that aren't very good at all at other aspects of the game, like Koscheck, Maynard, Lesnar etc.

Apart from GSP, everyone has trouble with good wrestlers.

By the way, I think it needs to be said that Mike Brown and Uriah Faber were pretty decent wrestlers and Aldo handed them their asses.

But Aldo doesn't need to move up to 155 to face a great wrestler. His likely next opponent at 145 is Chad Mendes who is a 2-time Division 1 All American.

But I think Aldo has proven himself not to be completely defenseless against wrestlers as long as he isn't tired.

So what's your point? Aldos division is full of GREAT wrestlers. I simply pointed out that because this could make his run very difficult.

He did fight a couple of pretty good wrestlers. However, they didn't really committ to getting the fight to the mat. They played his game in standing up which is definitely a bad move for them.

The only way he won't be tired is if he moves up in weight. His days at 145 are over IMO its down hill from here.

I agree with you on this one. Sometimes age just makes you need to carry a few more pounds.

The way he look in the second round against Hominick looked like he had a dreadful weight cut. But the dude is so good that it hardly matter.

Aldo is a stud. And unlike GSP, he's an entertaining stud.

My point is that it's really just stating the obvious. Unless you happen to be arguably the best wrestler in the sport (joosp), you're going to have big fucking problems with a guy that's better at wrestling than you.

Even Silva, a guy many consider the #1 P4P has big problems with good wrestlers.

Graynard must be the best wrestler at 155. Who else?

I haven't seen Mendes fight to be honest.

I don't think Mendes is boring at all. He's a wrestler but loves to stand and bomb.

He trains at Team Alpha Male and fights much like Faber. Nothing boring about that style at all. He always working.

I can't put my finger on why, I just am not entertained when I watch him fight.
