Pretty much what I felt the moment I clapped eyes on the guy. That was the first and last Charles Martin fight I watch. Martin was, basically, looking for somewhere to lie down. It reminded me of that film where Robbie Coltrane is elected Pope by accident ........that's Charles Martin.....he was getting introduced as "Heavyweight Champ" and the look on his face was like........."What.....I am......:dunno:"
Martin did look shook during the introductions and the stare down. I think he tried early but after sampling a few of those right hands, he didn't want any problems.
Those were Joshuas best right hands and Martin was nowhere near unconscious. Sure he was down, but he was compos. If he had Amir Khans heart he would be in there banging away still. Or Dillian Whytes heart, for that matter.
He would have taken a worse beating that's for sure. But he was too slow and ponderous to do anything. Dillian Whyte though not elite, was surprisingly quick handed and loose with his upper body movement and feints to throw Joshua off and surprise him with counters. But yeah, it's clear that Martin KNEW what was coming all along, as Joshua said during their "Gloves Are Off" encounter
