Lovelace Drama about the star of the groundbreaking porn film 'Deep Throat' Linda Lovelace (Amanda Seyfried) and how her 17 days in the porn industry affected her whole life. For a film about a porn star this is very tame. It started as a sort of 'Boogie Nights' and turns more into 'What's Love Got to Do With It' sort of film. Yes there is nudity and sex, but is minimal and not offensive. Amanda Seyfried has no problems undressing and gives a solid performance which makes me wonder how Lindsay Lohan would had tackled this role which was written for her as her comeback vehicle. From what I have read about the real Linda Lovelace there was more domestic violence and abuse than the film portrays. In fact the film pace is a little messy since it jumps from certain scenes into six years later leaving behind a lot of things that should have been presented to make this a more compelling drama. It turns a little preachy at the end, but feels unconvincing because of the lack of exposure to the data left on the editing room. While some scenes are very effective it drags at times in others. The portrayal of the seventies was spot on. James Franco as Hugh Hefner? Give me a break! LOL The film is watchable mainly because of Seyfried and Sharon Stone who delivers the best performance of her career in the minor role of Lovelace's strict conservative mother. 7/10
