Supposedly Easter is gonna be Mikey's next opponent.

Good matchup, but I don't expect Easter to last the distance.

I'd MUCH rather see Garcia-Easter than Garcia-Cotto anyway.

Two young, unbeaten guys at their peaks is ALWAYS more compelling than a prime guy vs a washed guy in his retirement fight.

    agREED...

REED's All for Mikey or ANY Fighter Getting the HIGHEST Purses Possible, but in This Scenario, a Cotto Bout Would Be a Clear Case of Mikey Trying to Make Up for Lost Time, FINANCIALLY...Moving Up 2 Additional Weight Classes, AFTER Moving Up a Division to Face Broner 1 Fight Earlier, AIN'T a Good Look...

    Sorry...

Try Your DAMNDEST to Clean Out '35, Seek THE Best Available Fights @ '40 for a Year or So, then Jump Headfirst into Welter...Mikey's Not Even Close to Being a True '47 Pounder....Smallish Welters like Floyd and Keith Thurman Would Have Fairly Significant Size ADVANTAGES Over Mikey, @ '47...

And the Idea of him Ever REALISITICALLY Fighting @ '54 is Absurd...

I like this fight. I've liked what I've seen of Easter, but he's been hidden away on some cards so I haven't seen as much as I should have.

Unifications are more important for a career. I also like guys fighting undefeateds over worn out "name" fighters.

I'm all for Garcia to win. Lomachenko vs Garcia is the fight I want to see most of all.

WHOthefuck is Lomachenko Gonna Fight After Rigondeaux???...

Arum Would Have to OVERPAY Salido, to Finally Rectify that "L", but Aside from That, Lomachenko Would Be Fighting for "Chump Change" as Well...Thing is, Lomachenko's AMBITIOUS as Fuck and Arum's Already Had the Likes of DeLa, Floyd, Mikey and Rigondeaux Kick his Ass to Curb (Speaking of Which, Does Arum have RENEWED Options on Rigondeaux for Signing the Lomachenko Contract???)...

Lomachenko WANTS to Fight Mikey Garcia and we Now Know Mikey's Gonna Be @ '35 a Tad Loooooooooooonger than Expected...If Mikey's Holding 2 Belts @ '35, Lomachenko WILL Pressure Top Rank to Make the Fight OR Run the Risk of Losing Yet Another Elite Level Fighter....Lomachenko's Got a STRONG 5+ Years of Elite Level Fighting in FRONT of Him and like the Aforementioned Names, he's BIGGER than Bob Arum's Biases and/or Petty Bullshit...

Looooooooooooooong Story Short, Vasyl Lomachenko is VERY MUCH an Option for Mikey Garcia, Particularly In Lieu of Mikey Moving Up from '35 to '54 w/Only 1 Fight in Between...

Cotto would have beaten the crap out of Garcia at 154. He looked soft and undersized at 140.

I think Mikey would have slapped Cotto around, truthfully. Miggy is has been washed up for some time now, and a weight advantage alone wouldn't be enough to beat a younger guy in his prime.

Mikey is good, very good - but he's not Pacquiao or Floyd good.

Moving up three weight classes and beating someone is good as Cotto? I can't see it.

The idea of Cotto being washed up is absolutely bizarre. Past his prime? Of course, but not washed up. Look at his recent fights. He beat Martinez easily, beat Geale easily, gave Canelo a close fight, then beat Kamegai easily. That is not the run of a guy who is washed up or shot, it just isn't.

Cotto would have soundly battered Mikey.

Agreed. It's utterly bizarre how much Cotto is underrated, even by his own fans

I'm not quite sure either. I can understand picking against him in a lot of matchups, but I don't know why he's dismissed so easily. He has one of the best resumes in boxing currently and even in his losses was never humiliated. Cotto gave a very good account of himself against the two best fighters of his generation.

He also holds wins against a host of very good or close to great opponents with a myriad of different styles and qualities all while moving up through multiple weight classes.

Exactly. Dismissed is the key word too, Cotto has always been so readily dismissed by fans it's nuts, as if he's some hopeless bum who has no chance.

Everything you said is true, beaten a whole bunch of world class fighters across multiple weights, and even gave Floyd a good run for his money. He actually did more damage to Floyd than almost anyone else in Floyd's entire career.
