And Canelo arguably isn't any better than Ayub Kalule.

I suggest you re-watch it then. Ray controlled the whole fight.

Leonard would have kicked the shit outta Canelo and you know it.

We can't go by "would have" in a discussion like this....because Tyson " would have" kicked Douglas' ass if they hadn't fought

Says the man who takes every opportunity to say something as highly debtable as "Floyd WOULD HAVE outboxed Duran".

Ain't much to debate about what Leonard would have done to Canelo.

Sly's been trolling or being the contrarian forever regarding Floyd or anything involving 80s greats.

True, but REED's Never Heard him Suggest Anything as Patently ABSURD as Floyd Beating Robinson @ '47...

Floyd's LEAST Impressive Weight, Robinson's MOST Impressive Weight, No Less...

I don't think he's trolling. His nuthuggery is simply getting worse.

It's nothing new though. I remember like 10 years when he said Floyd could have moved up and beat Hagler.

This is a guy who was pushed to the brink by a FADED Oscar, yet somehow, a PRIME Sugar fucking Ray Robinson won't do any better.

That was definitely an underwhelming performance by Floyd. His offense was pretty poor, he was having all sorts of issues getting past Oscar's parrying.

I was expecting a much more definitive performance from Floyd than an 8-4 decision.

What I find MOST interesting is that, since Oscar, Floyd never again fought a taller opponent. Hatton, Cotto, Canelo, Ortiz, Berto, Pac, all these guys had something in common... all midgets. That's probably not a coincidence.

As if Robinson didn't already have enough things over Floyd at 147.... he was 5'11. His height and range alone would be highly problematic for Floyd.

Considering Floyd will likely retire undefeated after the Connor fight, we won't get to see a repeat of Sly's epic turncoat job when Roy Jones started losing.

Doub was the 1st Guy REED Recalls Pointing That Out, but it's ACCURATE...

Floyd Fought an INORDINATE Number of SHORTER Foes, Considering he's Only 5'8 Himself...

Even @ Lower Weights, Floyd NEVER Fought Many Taller Guys, on an ELITE Level...

Genaro Hernandez was Taller, Chico Corrales, Phillip N'Dou...Then Dela...

1- Trinidad vs Margarito. Hard to find too many opponents made more in heaven for Tito.

2- Tyson vs Tua- Tua's chin might prolong the beating slightly. But only slightly.

    3- Benitez vs Pacquiao- at any wight. 140, 147, 154. Doesn't matter.

4- Duran vs Castillo- would be another exhibition of brilliance for Duran

5- Hearns vs Cotto- nothing needs to e said really.

I actually side with Ugo here. I'd pick Benitez over Pac, but I wouldn't call it a styles mismatch at all.

Actually, at 140, I have some pause in picking Will. Yes, he was phenom when he beat Cervantes, but he was only 17-18 years old. The Pac that beat Hatton at 140 was a bad man. Not sure if a 17 year old Benitez was polished enough to handle a polished Pac. Possibly, but I'm really not sure. I'm big on Cervantes, and he was a great fighter, but one thing Cervantes lacked that Pac had was great handspeed. And that handspeed would be a problem for a baby Will.

At 147, I'd take Benitez, but it's no cake walk. Again, the Pac that beat Cotto was a bad man. At welterweight though, I'm a little more confident in siding with Benitez.

154... now this is the weight I'm very comfortable in picking Benitez. He was filled out, and damn good at 154, and Pac never looked anything special at this high a weight. Benitez wins commandingly at junior middle.

Another thing, and this coming from THE biggest Tyson fan on Fightbeat, as everyone knows.... I don't think Mike would have LOVED fighting Tua at any point.

That's not to say prime Tyson wouldn't win, I believe he would, and handily... but Tua isn't the most idyllic style for him.

Beyonce Wilder... now THAT fraud is tailor made for a young Tyson. Looping puncher, shitty footwork, NO defense, questionable chin. Basically, all the Bum Bomber has going for him is a big right hand, but Tyson's chin was too good to get taken out with one punch. Wilder would be very fortunate to see past 3.

    Lol

How did I turncoat? The only time I started to criticize Roy was when he flat out quit in the third Tarver fight. It was because I was a fan that he pissed me off...because he could have won that fight if only he had tried, but instead he was just content to go the distance and claim that as a victory. Shameful.

I was also pissed at him for smiling throughout the calzaghe fight instead of going all out to try to win.

I didn't "turn on him" because he lost those fights, it was because of the manner in which he lost. By the way, I was a fan of Floyd long before Roy was knocked out by Tarver. I didn't suddenly leave Roy and turn to Floyd as is the myth around here

I agree with you. Tyson beats Tua all day long but ''tis is an uncomfortable fight for him on account of Tua's durability and power. Tyson destroys Wilder with ease....pinklon Thomas style

What Makes You Think GZA or X or Joe King or REED or Whomever Else Didn't Have those SAME Thoughts???...

Thing is, None of the Aforementioned BURIED Roy Publicly, as You Did...REED's Expressed his "Disappointment" in Roy-Tarver III, but You Called the Man a "Bitch" and "Cowardly" in the Aftermath...

Completely DISMISSIVE of Roy in a "Get the Fuck Away from Me, I've Found ANOTHER" Type of Way...Surprise, Surprise, Now You're Floyd's Biggest Fan...

Nahhhh, Floyd was ALWAYS been Sly's #1 favorite. It's nothing new at all. Roy was his main side chick, but make no mistake, Floyd was always been his wifey.

Even when Roy was prime, Sly wasn't quite as big of a Jones fan as you and I.

Whereas with you and I, our fandom of Floyd has always come a VERY distant second to Roy.

Only difference between you and I, and correct me if I'm wrong.... Roy is your FAVORITE fighter of all time.

He's a very very close 2nd for me... but no fighter will ever supplant Tyson on my #1 favorite list.

But I think the two of us are the most commited and consistent Jones fans in this forum's history.

Should add Muzse to the list. He always remained a loyal Roy fan.

X, your seeking of REED's approval is admirable...but the fact is that BOTH you and Reed (especially you) are late to the party in a message board sense. Back in the secondsout days (in fact boxingpress days) looong before fightbeat I was the SOLE Roy apologist and I used to get crucified for it (but didn't care). People were talking about how Roy didn't fight Calzaghe, Hopkins rematch, Darius, Jirov..and I was saying how he beat a prime and undefeated Toney and a prime Hopkins so shut the fuck up. I pointed out his fights with Hill etc etc. I was hated for it...and calld a nutlicker etc much like how it is with Floyd now. You and Reed became overt fans only after it was safe to do so. I paved the way. Actually that's unfair to REED...he was early enough....but YOU....you can shut the fuck up. lol

In fact a huge reason for why I became a "shane hater" (although I always liked the dude) was because people starting saying than Roy...which I thought utterly ludicrous.
