He's also not fighting featherwieghts As for Slice, Pac fanboys have been saying lots of shit for lots of time, none of it meaningful, all of it seeming like bet-hedging (in case he loses) rather than actual analysis see Double L's post "UNDOUBTEDLY" it will be due to wear and tear... UNDOUBTEDLY Nothing to see here, folks, move right along... No matter how he performs, the reason has been declared beforehand.
i expect when pacquiao loses he'll just quit like a shameless coward and blame it on some fabricated shoulder injury
His change in style is beyond obvious. Cotto isn't a featherweight either, yet that version of Pacquiao is markedly different from today's. He was still a beast then. Today's version is tame in comparison. And actually yeah, he still is fighting featherweights in essence, like Marquez. He looked tamer than ever Vs Marquez and Bradley, 2 guys who are a similar size to him. The size of his opponents has nothing to do with it, it's his mentality in the ring, and lack of viciousness and killer instinct that made him a star in the first place. The Pacquiao that fought Cotto would have stopped Rios and Bradley.
Cloggman, it seems like you're arguing just for the sake of it, anticipating this theory as an excuse from Pacquiao fans, in case he loses soon :dunno: You know full well he's a different fighter, you can't really believe he's the same guy that stomped Barrera. For better or worse, he is very different. To put it simply, he carries guys now, and before he did anything but. He carried Plasterito, and even admitted it, carried Mosley, and carried Rios. When he smelled blood in his younger days, he was all over them and gave them a vicious beating and stopped them. In some ways he is better now. He's more patient and has better defense. In the 3rd fight he boxed on even terms with Marquez, and in the fourth fight he clearly outboxed Marquez for the first time. But he is more tame now, it's not even arguable. He's simply not as aggressive, vicious, and bloodthirsty as he used to be.
While there is truth to this, it's not the entire story. He's been fighting bigger guys who present a bigger risk when being aggressive against. If he approached all the bigger guys like he did JMM he probably would have been knocked out in similar fashion.
He did. You're too much of a Gay Marquez groupie to see it :: It was a very close fight and Manny boxed on even terms for the first time, without relying on hurting and overwhelming Marquez. The 2nd fight is Marquez's best argument for a win out of the first 3.
I completely disagree. As I said, he's been tame against guys that are more or less his size, Marquez, Bradley, and Rios. He was braver against Cotto, who is bigger than all of them. He also walked Cotto down and took his shots without flinching. The Marquez punch was 1 in a million, a perfect counter right hand, completely flush. He took flush shots from Cotto and Mosley without a problem.
Pacquiao will Treat Algieri like an Also-Ran and have him Eating Algae & Aligning Algorithms Algebraically, in Algeria. REED:scared:
BTW I really hope this fight doesn't happen. So boring and pointless. Pacquiao will win an easy, boring decision. At least it would be amusing watching Trashkhan get thumped and do the baby deer jig.
It won't take an elite fighter like Pac to make Khan do the baby deer jig. He'll get destroyed again soon enough. Both Porter, and Thurman would knock the shit outta Khan.
Khan ' s entire style now though is built around protecting his chin. He makes sure to be first, falls in after he throws, smothers, holds, repeats.
Too bad he's not Wlad. He won't be able to protect it for long. Khan knows he sucks. He's just looking for one more cash out fight.
Algieri wants more money. Thinks he is worth more than 1.5 mill. Take Pacquiaos name off the marquee and he isn't even worth half of that.
algieri better not overplay his hand. i hope he does though. then again what else is out there for pacquiao
No idea really. I know some people find the idea extremely boring, but I'd probably rather see yet another Marquez fight than any other realistic option.
HBO is slipping further and further into the dumps every year, and Arum is now scraping the bottom. You'll see Paul Williams as a back-up dance for Usher before you see me order this one. If Algeri gets brutally beaten and KO'd, then I'll watch the replay. Horrible fight.
