Well if Kat were to beat Guerrero ya never know... he'd probably get another shot at some title.

Kat will always lose to the lightweight elite though.

I wouldn't say he'd beat Rios...not at this point. I think Marquez is past it enough to lose to Rios. Rios is simply too active and puts too much pressure on him. It's not that different than Marquez's first fight with Juan Diaz but Diaz can't punch. Rios can.

With that said, definitely an entertaining fight but overall I'm not that high on Rios...not long term. he gets hit flush far too often...eventually that will be his downfall. He's like Fernando Vargas-Lite to me. All offense, no defense.

Even if the kid could roll with the shots...he doesn't. Takes flush shots. Upppercuts, lefthooks, right hands...has no defense for anything. And he looks soft in the body.

I'd bet on him flaming out fast. Especially when he can't make 135 or it becomes a strain to make the weight.

I agree. He's a big, strong, energetic, tough lightweight. Which are very good attributes, but I doubt he is anywhere near as effective at 140, plus he'll burnout quick because of his style.

I could see him beating Marquez just through sheer youth/pressure/size etc.

I'd hesitantly pick Marquez though, I think he's still the best 135 pounder in the world.

Plus, as determined as Rioz is, he WAS getting discouraged and tamed in the early rounds against Acosta.

He managed to fight through it, keep up the pressure and Acosta just sort of wilted.

Marquez won't wilt, and Marquez would be hitting him with harder, cleaner combinations.

Rios and Nando arent that similar. Rios is just a straight ahead brawler/puncher. Nando had far more skills, and pre-Tito was at a level that Rios will never reach IMO.

However, P4P... Nando never really had the fight ending power that Bam Bam has.

neither could stop shots from either side and take full force shots on the chin which is my point.

    Stylewise they are very different.

For all Vargas's bravado, he was actually a decent, fairly athletic boxer puncher with skill.

Rios is a typical, tough, basic, aggressive Mexican style fighter.

Also, Rios looks to have a solid chin to me. Took flush shots from Acosta and was buzzed, but not properly hurt.

I was impressed by Rios. He is basically a come forward brawler but his determination will take him a long way. He was getting outboxed early in the fight and overcame that with his agression.

Clearly the best fight at is Rios vs. JMM so I hope that happens since JMM will probably won't resign with GDB.

I disagree with those who think that Rios would kill Katsidis. I think it would be an awesome fucking fight.

Katsidis just gave JMM all he could handle and even dropped him before getting stopped himself.

I think Rios will beat him but it would be a war. They are the same type of fighters. Big guys for 135 that rely on power and ability to take punishment.

I heard a rumor that Rios might defend against Barrera next. I hope it doesn't happen because it's a waste of time for Rios. But I would love to see Barrera take a beating just like Morales.

Did you miss the Peterson fight?

But there's something to Muzse's claim. Rios showed a lot of flaws early on in his career, and has been down before against fighters that really had no business dropping him.

Granted, a lot of that had to do with a lack of discipline towards the sport in general and he seems to have turned a corner in that regard.

But at the same time, it's not like you get out of bed one day and suddenly have a granite chin and stellar defense. Those flaws are who he is and a 'crash and burn' prediction isn't exactly far-fetched.

Isn't the Peterson fight classed a win in the KO column for Rios?

Lots of fighters with good chins have been dropped by guys they shouldn't have been early in their careers.

If Rios' chin is as bad as Muzse claims he would have been KTFO on Saturday.

    Snap.

Leopards changing their spots and all that.

It could be that the guy is a poor-mans Hatton.

Somebody, somewhere, somehow, is going to do him, and in this case it won't be anyone anywhere near Pacs or Floyds level.

Go back re-read what I've said...hell...go to the top of this page. I said nada about his having a bad chin.

My reading is obviously as bad as your writing. You said he couldn't take a full force punch. Please break it down for me.
