I'm halfway through watching Gonzalez Vs Cuadras and my opinion of him is the same as ever. Very good, but somewhat basic pressure fighter. Good footwork, pretty good come forward defense, good accuracy. But he throws that slow overhand right so much, and there's nothing particularly creative or clever about his work. He's better at reacting to openings than creating them. And I feel a similar way about him to Ricardo Lopez, the overall level of talent just isn't that great at flyweight. Cuadras simply isn't that good at world level, and neither are any of his other opponents, including the gutsy but crude Thai that beat him. I realise Gennady's level of opposition hasn't been great outside of Brook and Jacobs, but I think it's clear that Golovkin is a different level of fighter to Gonzalez, and he also hasn't lost to a Rungvisai level of fighter, or come close to it. If he fights an elite level talent like Inoue you'll see what I mean, he'll get crushed by the Monster. If he manages to beat Inoue I'll hold my hands up and say I was completely wrong and he's deserving of the praise.
Haha, I agree. Man is he fucking horrible to watch. I know I said I don't particularly enjoy Crawford's fights for some reason, but I'd rather watch 10 of Terence's than just one of Ward's.
Stevenson has a puncher's chance, but short of that, Ward will outclass him beat him up. Stevenson wants Jack next. That'd be Stevenson's biggest test in YEARS. I think Jack might pull the upset. But admittedly, Jack might not be able to handle Stevenson's power. It'd be a very compelling matchup.
We'd have to really re-evaluate AJ if that miracle happened. Accomplishment wise, that win would put Ward above a lot of fighters, but I know what my eyes tell me in terms of quality. I'd still consider guys like Roy, Leonard, Duran, Floyd, and Whitaker to be better fighters than Ward, because, well... they were.
Gonzalez showed what he was about in that fight. Worth watching again. If u gave the other guy six rounds you're fuckin up. watching live I was drinkin heavily and around loud people so I forgot sor rungvisai lost a point for one of his Billy goat head butts
I remember watching it live on the Golov-Jacobs undercard, by myself in the living room. When the decision was read, I said "Da FUCK???" so loud, that I thought I woke up the wife and kid. Without scoring it, the initial feeling I got watching it live was that Rungvisai won 4 rounds, TOPS! I was actually discussing the fight today with a guy I work with. He's also a hardcore. I went in his office and said, "Don't forget, Chocolatito fights this weekend,", and he was like "Isn't he fighting dude that he already beat once? What a bullshit decision that was."
These HBO commentator except for Max are blind...for the last few rounds estrada has been fucking Cuadras up...those uppercuts been fucking him up from the start.... Estrada cool and calm like JM Marquez....but since the knockdown is going a bit wild..
Estrada is one of the best fighters on the planet. Very tough, skilled kid who beat up a bigger guy tonite
Disagreed. He's powerful at 115 and a problem. Another tough fight tonite for gonzalez and this kid from nippon might be too strong. They waited till the right time
though I disagree with hbo commentator Chocolatito did look mad in the corner...maybe it was the early headbutts...
