Currently doing 4-7km per day, minimum 4 days a week but I'm doing it when I wake up at 5:00am. It takes me about 10-15 minutes to clear the fog and get out the door.

If I do it in the afternoon, 5-8km. My road is such that I can judge the distance based on the intersections I come to as there are only three of them.

    :scratcher:

You don't look like a runner, Buddy - how many calories are you burning?
If I was doing 15-20km per week minimum, I'd be really thin.

I hate running personally. I never got into it. I will do eliptical trainer and step master and biking and all that crap but running I dunno I find it too hard on the legs.

Buddy will say he eats big dinners and his metabolism slowed down once he hit 35.

I think the mystery is solved. I think Buddy is running as much as he says he is but it`s not road work it`s running from such questions as these.

I have family members and friends asking me the same thing. Although I haven't been running as much lately, my body is really stubborn.

I don't eat big dinners. I had 2-3 meals before I got home, but they were chicken, more chicken, and veggies with hummus. I do drink Diet Coke and coffee, and I did have a roast beef sandwich with mushrooms, havarti, and ranch, but my weight doesn't change much. My dad weighs a bit less than me, but he doesn't lift weights.

I eat less nowadays and do cardio a lot more and all that but weirdly enough my weight kinda stays the same. It`s pretty discouraging.

I see more muscle definition, so while the weight is basically the same, the muscle is more evident. Works for me.

I'm in the air force and have to run at least 3 times a week. I hate running but I've always been good at it. Right now I'm in better shape then guys half my age and younger and not just in running but even in other cardio exercises like Insanity.

Also I bought some spring loaded shoes they sell in Popular Mechanics that are supposedly banned from running competitions and they help me run even better. Now I'm one of the best runners in our squadron.

    I have a love-hate relationship with it.
Some days, it just kills me to be even bothered to do 3km...but last night, it was hot, zero wind and I breezed a 7km in about 35 minutes....and still had enough energy to go.

    Running is for girls.

Also, Buddy, per my previous suggestion, try cutting out the booze.

Oh, I have, LG. I've also cut back on my running. I still run 5-6 times a week, but it is a much shorter distance (2-4km), and I'm weight training twice a day (Lunchtime and then right as soon as I get home---the weights are outside and it's nice to train in the country). I can definitely feel it more, so I'm having to sleep more.

I will probably need to do extra training in July as I went to a bachelor party last weekend, I have another bachelor party this weekend, and then the following weekend a wedding, and a wedding the weekend after that.

Never happened before. Wedding stuff for the 4 last weekends in July. I'll need to do more windsprints.

I did have a laugh this morning though. I went jogging down the road and came within 20-30 metres of a deer. She watched me for a few minutes moving at my piddly-squat pace, and then bounded off effortlessly through the brush. Beautiful creature that just wanted to be left alone.

I doubt it. I was basically a chaperone for the first one. The second one is going to be mainly sports and recreation, but there'll definitely be a beverage or two at the end of the night.

OK then, it's for girls and professional agitators meddling in countries where they don't belong. I don't care to chase after anyone and never run from anyone, so I'm good to go!

In the Air Force in my squadron we generally do 2 to 3 miles 3x a week so we can pass our annual test of a 1.5 mile run. I really started pushing myself a while ago to build up my endurance and one of the ways I did that was by ditching the cheater shoes. I figured if I push myself in regular shoes and only use the cheater shoes when I test that should really help my time even more. Our test includes a waist measurement, pushups & situps and then the run. The older you are the less you have to do and since I haven't felt like I've aged in forever the test only gets easier and easier. My goal as always is to get a 100%. I always max out everything except the run so I usually end up with around 93-95% type scores (90-99% gets you a day off from work and a 100% gets you 3 days off).

Anyway about a week ago I was scheduled to take my test and having been pushing myself I had high hopes for getting my first 100%. I maxed out everything else like I knew I would now all I had to do was finish my 1.5 mile run in 9:45 at the most. I had on my cheater shoes but by the time it was over I finished around a 10:15 which was good enough for me to get a 99.5% score, my best ever but still just shy of my goal of 100. Oh well better luck next year.

Your body has to get used to the brand-new stresses and traces of running. Many beginner runners start off running too fast and pay the charge for this mistake within only a few mins. So don’t start out running too quickly
