In light of your longstanding attraction and interest expressed towards me and my postings, are you finally breaking down and saying you'd like a date?

Buddy..I joined a gym...haven't been regularly in years but got a super cheap deal and it felt good to hit the weights yesterday!
What's surprising to me today is I'm not nearly as sore as I expected to be and that's no doubt due to my high volume of calisthenics training

Hey LOK, that's great to hear. If you want to sweat like crazy and you don't have a lot of time, try tabatas-style training with weights and cardio. I weighed myself the other day and I made it down to 186, which makes it 37lbs in total that I'm down---almost 40lbs. Unreal. I had to buy a bunch of new clothes because my shirts and pants hang off me. I went from a size 36 or so waist down to a 32, and I'll probably wind up at 30 or even a bit smaller by the time I'm done.

The first few weeks, I wouldn't be surprised if you get really sore sometimes---like after a good leg workout. You still doing the martial arts training? That, kids, and a gym membership sounds like torture. I know you were doing some of the challenges I posted up on Facebook. I think I'll start a 30-day challenge on August 1st---maybe the squat one.

He was encouraging Buddy, but no doubt extends pretty much the same sentiments to you.

LOK, I'm training for pretty much the same reasons as you: I want to be healthy and one of the reasons is so I can look after my family as long as possible. You have to lead by example, and that means being healthy so that you can show your kids how to live a good lifestyle. I believe that, to be effective, parents have to walk the walk if they want their kids to have a better chance of being healthy and building healthy habits for life.

It's not the case for everyone, but I think kids are more likely to be out there throwing a baseball or frisbee if their parents are doing it with them. In 14-15 years, when the young lad is a young man, I still want to be able to play football, soccer, baseball, and other sports with him---I don't want to be all gassed out because I didn't take care of myself.

Calling exercising 'training' is really queer.

LOL. People with properly functioning brains talk about cardio training, weight training, and circuit training all the time. If you did any kind of regular fitness training, you would know this.

You did claim before that you were doing some sort of boxing training---or was it "boxing exercising" because otherwise you yourself sounded queer? Exactly how retarded are you, SD?

I haven't tried them, RWTP. I had to look them up. Looks like a more severe style of planking. I'm gonna give it a shot. It reminds me of one of those obstacles on the third stage of the G4 tv show Ninja Warrior in which they have to brace themselves between two walls, hands on one wall and feet on the other, and move horizontally over a high platform. One false step, and you fall 12ft into a pool of muddy water. LOL.

Sorry man, I maxed out at 17. I need more kelp. Sometimes unsalted seaweed can really let you down.

All joking aside, that is excellent to see a man in his late 50s in that kind of shape. I'm going to try those.

It's easy to forget how sore you can get when you're pushing it. Do you do feeder sets to alleviate muscle soreness the day after your workout? They really help.

If you're really sore the day after working a particular bodypart, try doing a couple of sets of 20 reps with just the bar or a light weight. It'll get the lactic acid moving and reduce muscle soreness---particularly if you do it and drink water before and after your workout. The water gets flushed in by the high-rep sets, and it helps flush the lactic acid out.

I can nail the #2 on a good day, but my hand has to be totally dry as it's not an easy one to nail.

Speaking of nailing, I think I can hit 180 in the next month. That's my goal. I'm 188 right now and having a great time playing outside with the little lad. I'll see how close I get in 30 days, but I really think I can get down there. Then it'll be 10lbs to my goal from the beginning: 170 at a height of 5ft7.5in. I think it would set a good example. I was 165 when I was 19 and trying to gain weight. Wouldn't it be funny if I wound up at 165 for my 42nd birthday? :)
