I agree, but Murray still is among the best that division can offer and thus it is a legit fight (unlike Rubio). After that, GGG has to start doing things if he wants to be remembered as a legend instead of a dominator of a very weak division, which Murray represents
He doesn't acknowledge this actually. I'll say this: there's lots of good fighters I'd pick Cotto to beat at 140 and 147 (not to mention the ones he actually did beat).
I take the Donny position here It is true that Cotto is having a greater career than you would think at first. He has never been the best fighter of the planet but he has been a legitimate top guy in the toughest divisions of boxing (at this moment) for a decade, has several good victories and abilities of great fighters and losses only to the best. Also he sealed his career by winning a legitimate middleweight championship. He is kind of like Floyd Patterson in a sense: what you first think of Patterson is that he was a weak champion of a weak era and avoided the best: behind the absolute top however he was world class for well over a decade,, defeated solid contenders of the 70s and lost only to two greats, avenged one loss brutally twice and his other defeats were very questionable. So him, like Cotto, was better than you would think of, and it is a good point However, usually when we mention someone being ATG it means he is a top 50 or so guy in boxing or that there can be about 5 such fighters in a division history (the definition is questionable of course). Cotto is not among the biggest legends of welterweight and weight classes around it and to me he is still behind the likes of Oscar, whom I consider an ATG fighter
I' not sure I would put Cotto behind DLH. I think they are both pretty much at the same place historically. Edit: Rethinking about it, DLH still has an edge career wise over Cotto, but the gap is small and could close depending on the next few fights.
yeah, most likely definitely not top 100 which, of course, means definitely not all-time great... That's preposterous
No he wouldn't. He's not going to outbox Cotto, and he can't punch either. Watch their respective fights with Martinez opcorn:
I pick Murray over Cotto but Quillin over Murray. Murray is a solid all-around fighter who can punch a little, has a nice if not spectacular technique, is not slow (not quick either) and can fight both out and inside. I believe he would outwork Cotto mainly from outside and hold his own up close. whereas Quillin might be physically too talented for him. GGG, of course, destroys them all looking unbelievably cute doing so
After he did that, he'd grab the unconscious Norris and shave "Raped" into his fade before shitting on his chest
