Looks good. Pity Daniel Craig is still bond. He's short, ugly, blonde and has no charm. They've given him good films, films that are in teh spirit of the books...but they chose the wrong actor. When are they going to realize that Michael Fassbender is the ideal James Bond?

Because you say so? You make a dramatic statement like that and it's supposed to mean something? Have you ever read the books?

The way Fassbender played his role in Inglorious or Xmen, epitomizes Bond's personality from the books, which Connery captured in the first two films.

Fassbender is one of the better and more versatile actors today.

Yeah, i read them. Fassbinder can play that roll in a limited capacity. He will never be bond. Being bond really has fuck all to do with acting. You have to actually be cool, not act it. Fassbender is a nerdy theater boy who is soft. good actor tho.

btw sly im just fucking with you man. Im sure he would be just fine.

I personally think Craig has done a good job and see him being bond for at least 3 more movies. From there, will probably court Cavil, who was up for the role in Casino Royale, but was viewed as too young.

lol. Bond was a womanizer in the books also, in fact his looks and charm were central to the "From Russia with Love" plot for example. Craig is not believable in that role. Come on man, Fassbender wasn't cool and tough as Magneto?

Women went gaga and squirting when Craig/Bond came out of the water in Casino Royale. They say he is not a pretty boy, but a very masculine man, and that is even better.

Yeah, also nothing in the books suggests that Bond were a particularly handsome man (I have read only three of the original Fleming books though) nor was he nearly as witty as he has been portrayed. IN fact, he seems to be a man of few words and creative ideas to take out bad guys.

I think Craig has been excellent Bond. He is a much better, more well-rounded actor than any of the previous Bonds and he has made the ridiculous role somewhat believable

Craig has toned down the suaveness of bond, but definitely increased his fighting and superhero abilities. He is doing shit that other bonds would just not be believable in doing. So it's kind of tradeoff. I dont mind it. My favorite bond was Moore, but i loved Bronson and Conerey too.

Eastern Europeans/Communists always hate Bond and Rocky IV, so no surprises here! lol

Obviously you have never read "From Russia with Love" or even "Doctor No"....when it comes to him being handsome. I agree though that Craig has been better than Bronson, Dalton and an old Roger Moore...NOT Connery though.....and you're right about Bond not being as witty or comic relief (in the books) as he had been in some of the previous bond films.

The Daniel Craig Bond films are certainly more in line with the books, I don't question the films...I question who they chose to portray Bond.

Connery is the iconic Bond because he was the first one in a politically incorrect era that fits perfectly Fleming's character. Craig is the second best as he is the most believable and lethal of all them. No matter what roles Craig plays, to me he IS James Bond.

Not to play into Sly's fantasy, but Fassbender actually would make a quality Bond.

But sadly for all the bigots, Idris Elba is gonna be the next Bond.

Believe me: is not happening. They can get away with a black Human Torch, but the audiences will reject a black Bond or a female Jane Bond. I have been listening to that same pc rap every time they want a new Bond for the last three decades.

Too bad they didn't give Adrian Paul (Duncan Macleod from Highlander series) a chance at Bond back when Brosnan was doing it. He would have been much better.

Craig is the best for me. Elba would be good but isn't he older than Craig?

I like Mendes but this would have been perfect for Tarantino. Only Tarantino can director Waltz properly.

Elba (no homo) carries his age very well, is tall, muscular, has a look and body that women love (all women love Elba, not just black women) and most of all.... he's got the natural COOL appeal that Daniel Craig simply lacks.

I guarantee you Elba would make for a better Bond than Craig, but sadly we might not see it. Shame because James Bond isn't even a real fucking character! God forbid he could be played by a brotha.

Same way...a black President of the US was always conceivable, but a black Pope will never happen!

    It's true.

Bond was, in the books and early films, invariably fighting against the East. Rocky IV....needs no explanation.

You're unlikely to find one Eastern European that likes Rocky IV

    Glad you recognize! ;)

All jokes aside...Fassbender would be the perfect Bond. Check out his bar scene in Inglorious Basterds. His manner in that scene had Bond written all over it. I thought I was looking at a young Sean Connery for a moment or two.

James Bond author Anthony Horowitz lambasts recent films

Horowitz, the author of Trigger Mortis, the most recent Bond novel, praises Daniel Craig but criticises Skyfall and Quantum of Solace.

The recent crop of Bond movies has come in for a lambasting from Anthony Horowitz, the latest author to join the 007 novel-writing franchise. Horowitz described the current onscreen incarnation of James Bond as “weak” and said that Skyfall was his least favourite of the entire film series.

In remarks reported by the Mail on Sunday to mark the publication of Trigger Mortis, the latest in the string of “continuation” Bond novels commissioned by Ian Fleming’s estate, Horowitz complimented Daniel Craig, calling him “terrific”, and said he admired the 2006 release Casino Royale (“a total return to the gritty seriousness of it”), but then laid into the follow-ups. The massively successful 2012 film Skyfall came in for particular criticism.

Horowitz said: “Quantum of Solace just went wrong. Skyfall is my least favourite. I know it is heresy to say so, but it is the one Bond film I have never liked.” Asked for his reasons, Horowitz said: “Bond is weak in it. He has doubts. That’s not Bond.”

“Secondly, the villain wins. The villain sets out to kill M. The film finishes with the villain killing M. So why have I watched it? And if you have to protect the head of MI6 from a madman, do you take her to a Scottish farmhouse with no weapons? And tell your bad guy where you are, so he will arrive with six people to kill her? … It’s that sort of thing that made me angry.”

Horowitz also professed himself uneasy at the prospects for Spectre, the Bond film currently in production. “‘I’m looking at the trailer and I am seeing a photograph of Bond’s family. The mum and the dad are in there and their faces are missing because the picture has been burned in a fire. This is going to be to do with his family background, and I know the fans are all terribly excited to know more, but I’m saying, ‘Don’t tell me, I don’t want to know. I don’t want to know about his doubts, his insecurities or weaknesses. I just want to see him act, kill, win.’”

In the same interview, Horowitz also touched on the issue of whether a black actor should be cast as Bond. Horowitz expressed doubts that Luther star Idris Elba would be the right man for the role, saying: “For me, Idris Elba is a bit too rough to play the part. It’s not a colour issue. I think he is probably a bit too ‘street’ for Bond.” Horowitz said the actor playing Bond needed to be “suave”, and that Hustle star Adrian Lester would fit better.

Horowitz also revealed that he was inspired to begin writing his series of Alex Rider teen-spy novels after his pitch to write a Bond film script was rejected. “I wanted to write a James Bond film. I met the producers years and years ago and tried to persuade them. That was when Alex Rider came into my head. They were talking about the next movie, not offering it to me. I thought, ‘Sod you. If you won’t let me make a Bond film, I’ll make my own up!’ By then, Roger Moore was about 50 and way too old to be playing 007, so I thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be great if James Bond was a teenager?’”

Agreed. Elba would be an excellent Bond.
