Has anyone seen the movie yet? The movie is in the cinemas for 4 days now in the US. In the Netherlands we have to wait 2 weeks.

I saw it. It's fucking terrific. The trailers completely mislead you and lets just say the whole experience was fucking great.

    SPOILER AHEAD!!!!

I liked it, too. Terrific goes a bit far for me though. I know it's science fiction but they could at least try a bit harder to make it realistic even in those realms. If someone liked the smoothness of Khan, this guy ain't smooth at all but I liked the guy, just a badass killer.

Oh yeah Kirk and Spock are open homosexuals in this movie.

Star Trek: Into Darkness The second entry in the revamped scifi franchise echoes current headlines news about terrorism and is more straight forward action oriented than any other Star Trek film has ever been. This new film is less fun than the previous one and lacks that sense of awe and freshness that the 2009 version had. Benedict Cumberbatch is awesome and steals the show. That said, it still works as an entertaining summer movie while it might go down in history as the most 'blasphemous' film to hardcore Trek fans. For the knowledgeable the storyline of Into Darkness is just a remake of the original series "Space Seed" episode mixed with references to one particular beloved film in the franchise. J.J. Abrams wins the casual moviegoer while alienating the series fanbase. An exciting, entertaining popcorn movie, but not a memorable Trek. 8/10

Just saw the movie. I had high expectations and it didn't live up to it. The movie was good but the first one was better. It definitely doesn't deserve the 8.3 on IMDB and all the high praise the movie receives.

They are connected. Definately watch Wrath of Khan. It would make Into the Darkness so much better.

Completely ditto, and I've seen the Wrath of Khan which is easily a much better film. My problem with this film was the pacing or the flow felt off, some of the scenes just dragged on too long and Spock turns into superman at the end because it's in the script. It wasn't bad, but I agree the first one was better. My girlfriend fell asleep which almost never happens, and I too was pretty disappointed in this one, but then lots of the films I go see have been bad to mediocre. This weekend, I get to see how much The Wolverine lets me down. 6/10

Then don't watch mindless scifi summer popcorn flicks and go watch The Butler or rent '42'.

*** SPOILER *** I have found another mistake in the movie. Once the ship is falling to earth, everyone in the ship should be floating. Because not only is the entire ship in freefall, so is the crue.
