Two of the biggest overachievers of recent times. Neither had much physical talent, yet managed to become top fighters based on their toughness, determination, and both had awkward styles.

Froch hit harder, but Collins had a better chin. Who wins?

I think Froch also had better boxing ability, and better prime opposition.
Plus his power at 168 would certainly buzz Collins.

Collins had average boxing ability and was just lucky to get involved in that triumvirate with a shot Benn and an on-the-slide Eubank at the prime terrestrial TV moment for British boxing.

I doubt Froch could buzz Collins.

I think I'd favor the Irishman in a close one. I think Collins was physically stronger than Froch, and would outfight him on the inside down the stretch to win a decision.

I'd lean towards Froch... his style was ghastly but there was a certain skillful quality to it... Collins was strong and tough but I think Froch can edge him over 12 rounds by "outboxing" him, as it were

Who did Collins fight at 168 with legit power?
Seriously, he was one of the most overrated (by SKY Sports, naturally) boxers of the decade...

I'd favour Froch as well, as awful as he could look he had a better ring IQ than given credit for. You can't achieve as much as he did on farmer strength alone.

Collins is only overrated if you think he could have whupped Jones, Toney, or Calz. But that's SUCH a small minority of idiots.

Saying he could beat Froch in a close one isn't overrating him. The fact that tall act like a Froch win is a foregone conclusion is overrating Froch.

Collins was far more mobile and shifty and if there is one thing Froch hates it's a guy who is at all slippery.

They say the way to beat an American car in a race is to put a bend in the track.

    Same with Froch.

Strip a fighter of all his power and add one cup of slickness to his game............and you are halfway to beating Froch.

I mean real crafty cunning.........not that faux-shimminess speed of somebody like Bute.

Collins was crafty and durable........and was one of very few fighters I have ever seen who could keep his hands UP for 12 rounds.
