If the Kampmann-Alves card tonight isn't enough MMA for the weekend, there's a pretty decent Strikeforce card on tap for tomorrow night. I am one of the few; the proud; that follows women's MMA. And this is a good match-up: Main card (Showtime) Women's Bantamweight Championship bout: Miesha Tate (c) vs. Ronda Rousey Lightweight bout: K.J. Noons vs. Josh Thomson Welterweight bout: Paul Daley vs. Kazuo Misaki Middleweight bout: Ronaldo Souza vs. Bristol Marunde Middleweight bout: Scott Smith vs. Lumumba Sayers Preliminary card (Showtime Extreme) Women's Bantamweight bout: Sarah Kaufman vs. Alexis Davis Lightweight bout: Caros Fodor vs. Pat Healy Lightweight bout: Ryan Couture vs. Conor Heun Welterweight bout: Roger Bowling vs. Brandon Saling
They both are very pretty in any context. I like Rousey in this match. I don't think Tate is strong enough or good enough to avoid losing an arm to Rousey. It's going to take a bully puncher to stop Rousey. That ain't Tate.
This one has me undecided. Meisha Tate is a very accomplished grappler in her own right. If Rousey takes her arm, that will be impressive. My issue is Tate's wrestling being able to stop Rousey's take downs. If that happens, and Tate's background says it could, we have no idea what Rousey will do when extended beyond the first round or even beyond the first minute of a fight. Tate trains at Team Alpha Male. The wrestlers there are top notch. She'll be ready. I am going to go with Tate just based on experience and being more well-rounded. As I said, if Rousey runs thru her and gets another armbar sub, it will be very impresssive. It's relatively amazing, regardless of the competition, that Rousey has 4 pro fights and 3 ammy fights and none have gone more than 59 seconds. More amazing is that all 7 have ended via armbar. She might be a 1 trick pony.
Yeah, I can't argue with any of that and while I dissed Tate it's not like Rousey wants to be in with someone as good as Tate if the fight gets extended.
watching two hot girls roll around like that...entertainment. tate is a tough chick...she should have been done during the first arm bar. The second...that was sick.
Wow, that was absolutely sickening. Tate must be made of rubber. I don't know how the hell she didn't tap earlier. Rousey is the real deal. I honestly thought she would get discouraged after failing to get the sub with the first armbar attempt. That chick has a ton of drive. I have a feeling the two female fights tonight are going to make people forget about Cyborg and Carano. Rousey is on her way to being the biggest female name in the sport. Just like her previous fight against Julia Budd, this one will get a lot of YouTube views for the sheer brutal nature of that arm snapping.
Scott Smith is finished in big organizations, and I hope he retires. His whole appeal was his heart and tonight he tapped to a very weak choke. He's done.
This is the first chick fight that I have actually enjoyed. Rousey is legit. She is the only woman who stands a chance with the he-she. If she gets Cyborg to the mat, she can submit her.
Her ability to get in position for the armbar is amazing. Even thought she didn't sub Tate with the first armbar attempt, she did have it in deep and it was after less than 50 seconds. And EVERYONE knew it was coming. That makes it even more impressive. Personally I was impressed with Rousey's defense when Tate had her back as well.
You really dropped the ball by not informing me on Kampman/Alves happening on Friday. Give me that gif and your slate is wiped clean.
they only way they 'aren't that pretty' is if you are browsing through a Victoria's Secret catalog or Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, but if that were the case then you wouldn't say they have good bodies. I guess that leaves me with 'wtf are you talking about?' haha
rousey's going to be very tough to survive once it goes to the ground. cyroids santos could test her ability to absorb shots while standing, but i can also see rousey slamming her w/ ease and sustaining control and working on that armbar. it makes sense though. she's been a judoka as a child (her mom was a world champion) and was an elite international competitor and an olympian medalist. i'm sure she's had tougher matchups in judo than what she's seen in mma.
Was anyone else disappointed with Thompson? He should have been able to get Noons out of there on the mat. He looked really lazy and almost content to lay and pray for a victory. Guess training with Fitch has rubbed off on him
I agree, but Josh should have been able to finish him with that side choke in the third. He looked like he ran out of gas and couldn't finish it to me.
