I always found these films similar. Which one did you like better?

Taken. A father pursuing his kidnapped daughter. No other explanation needed. Man On Fire took too long to get going (in comparison of course)

Man of Fire is darker, sadder, more gritty, and better acted. Taken isn't really a quality film, but it's rewatchable to an extent... but even it's rewatchability is overrated.

I'll go with MOF... it's just a better movie.

The Equalizer is also better than Taken.

Taken is essentially a poor man's Commando. Perhaps it takes itself more seriously than Commando, but it's less fun to watch.

Taken is nothing like Commando...only similarity is that a Father is going after his abducted daughter and is running out of time. Commando is an all out action film and Taken is a dark thriller.

I’m not a big fan of either film from a rewatchability stand point. I think Taken was the more entertaining film as I remember MOF as an overrated cluttered mess.

I especially love the electrical torture scene in Taken.

Here’s a question: which dialogue was better. Denzel’s speech about forgiveness and God or Nieson’s phone speech about a particular set of skills?

The latter but MOF is overall a better film.

Denzel rules and I did like Man on Fire, but Taken is a league above it.
