Perez throwing, but Castillo just too quick with counter shots. Jab by Castillo, blocked. This one gets through. Perez lands jab, lands left hook. Perez having moments, lands another left. Castillo getting the better of inside exchange, but Perez letting him know he's in a fight. Uppercut by Castillo who re-establishes distance.

Perez jabs, Castillo measuring him up for right hand. perez plods forward, eats right, lands right. Castillo mixing it up upstairs and downstairs. Low blow, down goes Perez. Perez in center of the ring, but Castillo circles to left never quite meeting him there. Jab by Castillo, Perez land left to body. Jab by Castillo. Right hand by Castillo, follows up to body and up top. Perez lands overhand right, Castillo lands to body, pushes Perez to canvas, no knockdown. Castillo jabs, lands straight left. Short with jab. Perez doubles up on jab. Castillo jabs, and paws with two more. Right hand for Perez, Castillo lands counter right. Jab, jab right for Catillo, digs to body as well. Clinch by Perez. Perez short with jab, eats a left to the body. CAstillo lands 1-2 as crowd chants Castillo Castillo. Perez short with jab, Castillo lands his. Tango in the corner. Body shot by Castillo, Perez comes back with body shots of his own and three upstairs at the bell.

Castillo 10-9 (60-54), though could see iround for Perez based on final shoeshine

 

I guess Arum needs six months to make the audience forget about this stinker.

Maybe Perez should try fighting during the rounds, not during the breaks. ::

Castillo lands right hands trying to keep resurging Perez off of him. Perez looking for body shot opportunity along ropes. Jab by Perez misses, Castillo short with straight right. Right short, left hook lands for Castillo. Castillo lands right, spins Perez around, crowd boos lack of action. Perez comes in jabbing, but Castillo outworking him. Right short for Perez, eats two head shots in return. Castillo throws right hand at the bell.

Round 8:
Castillo throws to body to start round. Perez simply throws Castillo. Action stops, ref takes point from Perez for roughhousing. PErez digs to body, clinches Castillo to canvas. Perez getting wild, warned for low blows, still throwing low anyway. Castillo lands to body, both trade low blows. Ref again threatens Castillo with point deduction for low blow- 2nd "last warning". :dunno: Perez throwing on inside while two are tangled in corner. Right hand for Perez. Castillo complains of headbutt as Perez throws three upstairs. LEft hook for Perez, just misses. LEft hook upstairs and down for Castillo. Jaby by Perez. Castillo misses sweeping right hand, lands straight left.

Perez's round, but deduction makes it 9-9 (Castillo 79-72)

 

..and Castillo wonders why nobody cares about him. At least guys like Montiel or JM Marquez made an effort to be fan-friendly.

 

Round 9:

They meet in the northeast corner of the ring. Castillo lands right hand, but arm punch, nothing on it. Castillo throws right, leftr, both blocked. Perez charges forward, throws two punches, neither get through, Perez pins Castillo on ropes but eats a left hook. Ref calls time, loose tape on Castillo's glove. Jab, jab right for Castillo, all blocked. Perez short with jab, Castillo goes downstairs, comes back with right up top. Castillo throws combo, most blocked, two get through downstairs. Perez reaches with jab to body. Castillo short with jab upstairs, lands one to body. Castillo overshoots right hand. Castillo misses with right, Perez shoves forearm behind Castillo's head, Castillo shoves Perez to canvas. PErez stays down, ref orders him to get up.

Terrible fight

 

Round 10:
They meet in the center of the ring, touch gloves. Castillo, jab, jab, body. Left right underneath Perez' guard. Chants of "ME-XI-CO" fill the ballroom. Castillo looping punches, Perez picking them off with his elbows. Perez in a bit of defensive mode this round, CAStillo throwing but most of them blocked. Perez opens up, but doesn't land anything. Castillo lands upstairs, digs a left to the body. Perez lands right, and a headbutt, Castillo pats him on the back and grins. Castillo lands left hook to body. Perez lands right ot body. Neither fighter has anything on their punches. PErez misses with jab, lands looping right. Castillo does the same. Perez lands jab. Castillo lands jab in corner. Clinch,. Castillo out of corner, and in another.. Castillo ducks a left hook as he lands one of his own to the body. Crowd very forgiving of lack of sustained action in this one
